Without him I think we'd be going down even though he has not reached his peak in many games. However, this season we have slowly closed up like an unloved v***** and it feels like something needs to change. Whether that is a new manager or new players remains to be seen. I would love Wilf to stay but he has cut a frustrated figure at times this season and I can't see him wanting to play another season like this one. It is possible of course that this is a power play and Wilf may be sending the message change the manager/tactics or I'm off.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha wants out' by Midlands Eagle some of these comments are out of order IMO, these are my thoughts on the situation. im almost 40 and he is the best player i have ever seen play for palace with better players around him .: meaning he cant be the sole focus of attention from opposition managers he will thrive in any team in the country i will probably shed a little tear the last time i see him play for our great club we must, must sign a replacement before he leaves, we simply cannot replace what wilf has, but we can sign a player who will compliment andros on the other side.

He gets a pay rise and stays. Does anyone see a pattern? I also suspect that Wilf wants to gee up the board so they don't keep treading water as we have this season. My honest opinion about Wilf is that he is as good a player as we have ever had. Unfortunately for him, he is not a Hazdard or a Mesi or a Ronaldo. He is not even a Raheem Stirling. He does not have the football brain to be among the greats.
Now Wilf, no Premier League.

Think it will be the start of a rebuilding process as we cannot keep relying on an individual to keep bailing us out . We need to develop a more adaptive strategy not just counter attacking which works well away . Think we need to start this process from now ,and probably starting with the manager. Although Roy’s Done well we need to progress long term and unfortunately Roy is not the future (Maybe another role at club ?) . So unfortunately let’s cash in on Wilf and get rid of dead wood ASAP and move on to next level .

Now Wilf, no Premier League. That we do not know, but what we do know is Wilf cannot play forever. Therefore, do you never sell him thinking you can only be in the prem with him and never without him? There is a better argument, that you sell at some point, hopefully the right time, and give yourselves a better chance of survival in the future as opposed to never selling him and not only that, have an ageing or crocked or a player too slow, on what, £220k per week by then? Unfortunately we have to do this at some point and his head might be even more all over the place if AWB leaves and achieves success. Imagine that.

I have been saying privately for a while that Zaha would be gone at the end of the season, accordingly I have been pondering on possible replacements. He would be far more suited to playing in a team which play more expansive football and I am sure he will enjoy that far more than playing for a team which adopts our tactics. Will he be suited to playing vs 10 defenders more often though? Just look at how top 6 games vs anybody setup.

I don't believe that there is a groundswell of supporters who would be happy to see Zaha depart (If any) but I suspect many can understand why he might wish to parade his talents elsewhere.And of course supporters will appreciate that the transfer fee could be could be used to strengthen the team in two or three areas.

The style of football we have played under Hodgson this year has been some boring, negative and turgid fair. Can’t blame a flair player for wanting no part of that. He might be seeing his career slip away, like some others at the club and therefore he is correct to want to move on.
