I find this artical a bit strange like there is an underlying point they are trying to make.

Sri Lanka is about 9 percent Islamic.....That's why the attack happened. It's a numbers game.....and if you look at a demographics world map of where attacks occur and what the demographics are....that's the real world conclusion.

I think it's interesting in itself that you are looking for the article to draw some conclusions for you. I agree that's what you would expect but this actually looks like a very rare but genuine attempt at journalism by the Guardian. Expect normal service to resume though.
