I think these are the answer to threats like nuclear explosions and climate disasters.

At most a city can be taken out as atmospheres and climates are individually generated for cities rather than being global.

No aircraft travel between cities so diseases can be contained to cities more easily.....Yeah the more I think about it the more I think it has things going for it.

One way of solving the population problem without eliminating people if food production can keep pace.

Go Musk go.

This has a 'Time Machine' feel about it.

The rich live in their protected underground cities and become the Morlocks and then start eating the Eloi like cattle when the food runs out.

Dystopian novel alert.

I like the idea.

You lot live underground and I will stay on the surface, just to keep an eye on things of course. You'll need to supply me with the essentials of course, food, clothing women etc.

Actually I am putting my faith into Musk's and Branson's private space travel.

Once this becomes common place I can think of a few public figures that should be blasted into orbit.

I suppose it will remove the necessity of asking if the roof of the Millennium Stadium should be open or closed. Bad for umbrella sales though.

Tis the future.....if humanity can stick around long enough.

Mars will take god knows how many years and while it's important to get off the rock it's not an answer for mass populations.

The Moon is easier but has the same general problems.....besides the cheese up there went stale eons ago.

He's been trying to go for ages but he's waiting for solar power to charge his Tesla.

A slightly different version sounds like South Africa in about ten years.

I was thinking more 'War of the Worlds' by the same author. Underground cities was the artillery man's pipe-dream.

If only he would.

As for living in a big hole in the ground, this hardly seems like progress tbh.
