Councils have also suffered huge funding cuts across the country, so it's hardly surprising that when a multi-million pound entity wants to get something done they try and get something out of it for themselves. Yes but that runs the risk of the matter going to the SoS and penalties if they are found to be seeking to supplement their coffers through the back door.

No plans for additional closed roads on matchdays There will be a residents CPZ (controlled parking zone) for some distance around the vicinity of the stadium (common at most larger grounds) Council wanted Palace to include public transport in the cost of a ticket, but it wasn't practical with where everyone comes from They also wanted Palace to fund station improvements, but these are already planned and funded anyway by the Mayor's office Palace will be required to have local street clean up teams, and the odd toilet between stations and the ground (presumably those pissoir units) Why don't we change our name to Westham, the get EVERY thing for NOTHING

There are things we should be involved with e.g. match day stewarding of the roads if required but it's not up to us to fund the Council's public transport policy.

There are things we should be involved with e.g. match day stewarding of the roads if required but it's not up to us to fund the Council's public transport policy. For obvious reasons I have no inclination to support Labour controlled Croydon Council, however the Council are probably thinking why should they finance transport upgrades which are required solely as a result of the Selhurst Park development and as such it is incumbent on the club to provide the necessary funds ? In Crawley, the developers of 'Kilnwood Vale' have had to pay for the work at Cheals Roundabout as it has to be changed to accommodate additional traffic arising from the development.

That's fair enough Willo but there are traffic problems all around Norwood Junction / Croydon even when we are not playing, the devil of course is in the detail.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave It is quite normal for planning applications to include some form of local amenity reform. However this normally has to be in some way related (at least slightly) to the application. eg Brentford's new ground, refurbishment of station nearby and disabled access improvements are taking place and i would be fairly sure that Brentford are providing some (or all) of cost. The problem for Selhurst Park there are few obvious things. Public transport is a problem we know and accept that, having 3 stations is far from ideal. Local road improvements will be included in plans but will be limited by current layouts/ houses. Since we all hope this is the first phase of an expansion of the ground, the local authority will also be considering how other phases could be managed and how this can be used to improve local facilities/amenities

How many do some other clubs have nearby, even in their original built up areas? One? None?

It’s just northerners who moan because they have to do an extra train journey on top of train and tube. Or if driving they have to come round to the bottom of the M25 and then halfway towards central London as opposed to the other clubs where they almost drive into London after being on the M25 for 5-15 minutes. Otherwise we’re no different.
