For obvious reasons I have no inclination to support Labour controlled Croydon Council, however the Council are probably thinking why should they finance transport upgrades which are required solely as a result of the Selhurst Park development and as such it is incumbent on the club to provide the necessary funds ?

In Crawley, the developers of 'Kilnwood Vale' have had to pay for the work at Cheals Roundabout as it has to be changed to accommodate additional traffic arising from the development.

Apart from introducing 'park & ride' systems, doubling up on trains/buses in to the area on match days and maybe buying more land within a mile of the ground to build a car park I cannot see what anyone could do to improve traffic congestion on match days.

I mean what are the council hoping for? CPFC to bore out a tunnel and extend the nearest tube to accomodate Selhurst Park? I mean, surely that would only add a few billion to the project!

Got to agree with this. There's often chat that Selhurst Park is difficult to get to, but quite frankly its nonsense. NJ is extremely well served from London Bridge and the south (including 3 mins from East Croydon) and Selhurst is well served from Victoria. In fact, I can't think of many grounds that are easier to get to by public transport.

Take the brand new white Hart Lane, one small overground station nearby (White Hart Lane), otherwise its a 30 min walk to Seven Sisters or Tottenham Hale

Absolutely.

Spurs have doubled the capacity of their stadium but the transport infrastructure around it - which was arguably poor to begin with - remains as was.

In terms of Selhurst Park, the new stand will increase capacity by another 7/8 thousand to 34,000. That's still less than we used to get for big games going back as far as the 60's and 70's, makes you wonder how we coped back then....

They've invited Coppell to turn the first sod on the construction of our new stand.

Could it be because in the 60s and 70s there were far, far less cars on the roads?

I mean I have to accept that congestion in London is only going to get worse until cars are replaced by helicars!
The point was well made though that Spurs have nearly doubled the flow of people into Tottenham every match day and to my knowledge (I'm happy to be corrected) they have done nothing to even change transport links to the ground never mind improve them!

Wasn't that what Susanna Reid was up to?

Another two weeks and he would have come out for remain.

Irrelevant. Different local authority.

Croydon Council have told us we have to do it. So we have to do it.

Spot on. Haringey is a useless council that probably took more than a few backhanders from Levy. Croydon and Parish are both far more reputable, regardless what some may say here. His reputation over here is exemplary. He has refused to grease NYC Mayor deBlasio's palm on several occasions when a few quid could have gone a long way. After all, Useless wants to be President.

I expect Lammy got them to make all sorts of promises about supporting the local community and when Lammy says 'local community' we know who he means.

And of course, he claimed all the credit for the stadium like the slimy t*** he is.

I was a bit confused until I googled Lammy. It takes us Yanks a little extra time to catch up. He’s the latest version of Bernie Grant, yes?

I remember when Sainsbury’s near Warlingham was given permission to build, various schemes were agreed to be included on local roads. I could not believe when they painted a cycle lane in an illuminous colour where the houses parked their cars, big waste of money and what an eyesore. Did not take long to spend more and strip it off again
