I think it's bizarre that we've gone through 37 league games and for him not to get 1 minute of premier league football this season, despite featuring on our bench incredibly frequently.

He looked tidy at times during last season - and Hodgson used him off the bench on occasion - and like said above, has graduated from Ajax academy and has played for Netherlands, so there's something about him.

A shame as we were all very excited about this transfer when it happened. Surely he will leave in the Summer.

Clearly he’s not in Roy’s plans. Ajax are going to get fully picked over in the summer so I could see a move back for him. Anything like our money back would be a great move for all parties.

In some ways similar to Meyer; there’s clearly a good player in there somewhere, but Roy likes consistency above all else, especially in the midfield 4. Jairo and Meyer don’t offer that vs the alternatives.

Vive le Roy!

He and Meyer are our two most technically proficient players...and yet neither are regular starters...what does that say about our playing style and management

They're 22 and 23 respectively, so not finished their development yet. So still young, playing overeas and both are entitled to improve.

I cannot believe we will sell either Jairo or Max. Both have great potential and are already good enough to play in the starting 11. Roy likes experienced old heads out on the pitch and that is clear to see which is why they are overlooked, so they will likely only leave if they push for a transfer themselves.

On a different note in favour of Jairo is that he is extremely versatile being a left footer who can play in defence or midfield. He has also received high praise from the youngsters (Dreher couldn't speak highly enough) in the U23s who say he is very calm on the ball and a great passer. I genuinely think he is one for the future for us

We have already tried to get rid of Jairo but he refused to go as he didn't want to drop down into the Championship

I’ve seen nothing to suggest Jairo warrants such high praise. Looks very mediocre from what I have seen. Hope to be proved wrong.

Surely we must now sell him.

He is clearly 5th choice centre half - as our main 2 are injured and he still doesn't get a start and probably about 5th choice in centre midfield too.

All of those above him in both positions will still be contracted next season so what's going to change?

Roy watches him in training every day and the fact he hasn't played in the prem this season speaks volumes.

Can't see him wanting to stay too - may take a drop in salary with a bit of luck to get his career back on track

There is no way in the world Ajax would cough up what they got for him, nor is there a change of matching his PL salary. People forget he was far from an established first team player when he left and Ajax did not mind selling a squad player in the slightest. He made it in the Dutch national team because we were horribly short of decent defenders and as far as left back goes that still is the case. Not long ago PVA was in the squad.....
