The man's dead, no way to reply and here is one side of a story.

The people who make money by slagging their family off in newspapers are something else.

Freddie Starr is not required to be a role model for the expression of sympathy for what happened to him.

Interesting that the daughter has maintained the 'Starr' in her surname.

Wouldn't, by the way.

Loved him in his prime, I’ve got memories of me and my late dad crying with laughter at his appearances on the des o’connor show, and still the best Elvis impersonator I’ve ever seen.

RIP

After 5 marriages to 4 different women, it was always on the cards that he was no angel to live with, but this, in my opinion, has no bearing whatsoever on his public & professional career.

It was just the same with Tommy Cooper - one of the most lauded comedians of the modern era, only to be revealed as a violent alcoholic after his death.

Doesn't make either of them any less funny or entertaining.

There are some interesting psychological explanations as to why people become comedians, one of which suggests that they are often low status individuals who go into comedy because their chances of success are so low. If they do make it they find it difficult to cope.
There are several personal favourites who must have been nightmares to deal with : Richard Pryor, Peter Sellers, W.C.Fields, Lenny Bruce, Sam Kinison, John Belushi...there are many of them.
