My guess is that they won't let many players go this summer so don't expect RLC Batman or others to turn up at Palace. They still can only have a max of 17 non home grown - and Michy Batshuayi wasn't one last year, so unless players leave, I'm not sure what changes.

I think that is more down to us as a group of fans, I don't think anyone outside of CPFC would really say we were in much danger at all from Christmas on. It's only because we have memories of Oldham that we don't celebrate until it's mathematically confirmed. I agree that it sets us up for next season as well, a big plus is that we've finally got rid of a lot of the dead wood on big wages, and we didn't have to spend in January to be safe.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

It would be nice to do our business early in the summer, a striker and a creative midfielder and keep the players we want to keep. January is a lousy time to buy as the selling club just ramp up the price. I would be happy going into January not planning on buying anyone because we don't need to.

If all the away results had taken place at home, and all the home results had taken place away, I think we'd all be pretty delighted with the season - barring a couple of disgraceful displays against Brighton, which I think really stoked some ill-feeling among the fans at key points in the season.

At home, we have been awful this season but despite that, we could still get our highest points total in the PL along with scoring the best goal in the only away win achieved at the Etihad all season. Let's just enjoy this moment because bad news is always just around the corner in football.

Highest ever points tally and never in danger of relegation (despite what overcautious fans on here felt) so I think this is progress. Feels weird because we were so often ‘meh’ and so often ‘wow’. If there is a criticism of Roy it’s that we really don’t take our foot off the brake enough at times. Our attacking play was often scintillating but we didn’t see this enough in the early part of the season (nor at home, apart from yesterday!). If we can nail our home form and feel confident to let the shackles off a tad more, top half and a cup run would be a nice ambitious target for next season assuming we have the personnel. Obviously, survival/midtable is our realistic target but next season will be our 7th consecutive season in the PL so see if we can build (without being all Charlton about it).

That's not all that ambitious. 3 more points and we would have achieved that ambition THIS season, assuming getting to the FA Cup quarter-final qualifies as a "cup run".

We might have dropped a place from 11th last season to 12th but we won more games than last season,scored 6 more goals, conceded 2 fewer and attained 5 more points. And who can forget that 3-2 win at Man C ! Not forgetting the win by the same scoreline at Arsenal who prior to this game had won their previous 8 home games.The win at Newcastle who had won their previous 5 home games which included a 2-1 defeat of Man C. Our turgid home form has been well documented so I have no desire to dwell on it ! Another season in the PL !

The main issue with our home form is the finishing, other than that in most of the home games I saw we didn't play too badly. As we have all been saying for a few seasons, we need a decent striker who will score goals. Still, it seems to me that the season didn't actually go too badly. Overall I can't say I'm disappointed with what Roy has done at Palace. As it was mentioned earlier, some people can't be happy unless they're unhappy. That's the Croydon mentality unfortunately, they look for the bad and focus on it ignoring the positives.
