That, better facilities and far superior pitches are the few good things about the influx of money.

Our premiership has reached a point where British players might not be the majority yet we reached a semi final and a bit unlucky not to go further. I dont think the number of nationals in your league means anything to be honest, if you are English and thrive in the premiership you have to be a proper quality player. You could argue that our standard of players are higher as a result...

Our premiership has reached a point where British players might not be the majority yet we reached a semi final and a bit unlucky not to go further. I dont think the number of nationals in your league means anything to be honest, if you are English and thrive in the premiership you have to be a proper quality player. You could argue that our standard of players are higher as a result...

Exactly.

The success at all levels lately is in a large part down to financial investment to improve infrastructure.

Like everything it’s swings and roundabouts but I think we are finally seeing a generation of players come through that have benefitted from those improved facilities that the extra revenue paid for.

Well, over the 12 years you mention we were still amongst the top teams in the world.....Whereas the Premier league has been going for 27 years and for most of them our performances have been woeful.....when we were promised an improvement: it was a promise built on warm words to justify what was really happening.. As for the semi final....we beat weak teams to get there and then lost to Croatia....a country with a population of what....around five million. The Premiership has been nothing but a money spinner for money men and it's taken the top tier of football...the original working man's game away from many of them. I would concede these points, youth performances have been encouraging.....is this more cyclical in nature though? Maybe, maybe not. My moans are more holistic in nature......I'm on the side of it wasn't really worth it.....but then again, it would be better if I'm wrong and just being a curmudgeon because it isn't as though it's about to change.
