I'm sure it has been mentioned before, but can someone remind me how Bournemouth do it.Their ground holds a lot less than ours, and as far as I can remember they haven't sold any BIG names.

they basically put up with the fines.

And the fines are called "huge" in the press, yet are roughly the equivalent of Tekkers wages.....

‘Only someone not funding a loss’.....you are right, football finances are a complete mystery to me. I run a small business and if my wage bill goes over 40% of turnover then I know I’m in bother!
Since we returned to the premier league we have made profits some seasons, I remember a few years ago we posted a profit of more than 20 million.
I also don’t have the benefit of having share holders that have personal wealth of 3 billion (Josh Harris). Football finances are all smoke and mirrors with many clubs owners finding creative ways of financing their spending.
If we sell our best players to turn a profit and are then relegated we will have real problems.

It is amazing how shortsighted people can be.
Success in football relies entirely on winning games and that requires players that are good enough.
Our success over recent seasons has been largely about Wilfred Zaha and yet some people think that selling him is somehow a good idea.

How dumb are they? 70 million for Wilf will be peanuts if we get relegated and stuck in the Championship.

You do not sell your best players when they have long contracts.

We will have even more problems if we were to end up in administration again further down the line from irresponsible spending.
Our owners cant just dump money in as we then breach FFP.
Our infrastructure is running at its limit and until we have a larger ground, it wont change. The only way we can essentially fund "decent sized" transfers is by player sales.
Under Big Sam we spent a good few quid in the Jan window, and due to the small amount of money we make as a business, its taken literally years to recover from that window.
Im the last person that wants Zaha to leave, I was there when he made his debut, and i was there when he made it again a few years ago and i hope i get to see him have a testimonial one day.

maybe, but without this investment, we most likely would not have stayed in the PL - so long term unlikely we would have been in a good position without that expenditure... so it was worth the cost IMO..

Not sure I said i disagreed with that investment? Im simply stating that the money we spent in that window is what has hindered us in transfer windows since because of FFP.

So Spurs out of the race,Arsenal apparently have a ceiling of £40m + a player or two as make weights, leaving the way clear for Wilf to return to Man U.

"Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven." Milton

I think Wilf might want to reconsider. At Palace he is a legend and will always be in the fans hearts. We defend him no matter what he does. At Southampton, we were angry, first at the call and then at Wilf's reaction. He is one of our family and we hate to see calls go against him, but even more, we hate how he reacted. We all still love him unconditionally. No other club can offer that no matter what he does or how many trophy medals he collects. If he goes, all the best and God Bless him for all his hard work. If he stays through the end of his career, they should name the main stands after him...
