Maybe he is fit at last?
Maybe it is to give him value if we sell - who knows.
It does seem a little mad to me though unless he is fighting fit and play full time next season

Connor has spent most of his time at Palace being injured. I don’t think things will change much in future and it looks like another poor decision by SP/RH.

There's no way this is true (about a contract extension). I think he's a good player but he's on 55k a week and doesn't f***ing play!!! Did he go nearly two years without a game? That's 5m in wages for 0 games.

Nobody on the planet is stupid enough to extend that deal even if there's a reduction in wages.
If it is true it'll be a good indication of what to expect in the transfer window. Absolute f***ing madness.

With Ayew and Bats going back to their clubs Benteke and Wickham is not as bad as back up whilst we secure a new striker which I am sure we will do. CW can also play wide of a front 3 if I remember correctly. He has preseason to prove himself and get back into form and if not he will go on loan with view to sell in Jan to recoup some cash. Sorloth will surely go. Could Sako stay if Wilf goes as he is naturally a wide man?

We will keep those with experience as we lose upto 7 players quite easily.

Anyway, with us anything can and will happen.

I would assume it is on reduced terms.

It has to be.

CPFC needs to hire a physiologist who will explain some basics about the human body and different types. Sadly CW. Would appear to have a body with over flexible ligaments resulting in constant injuries at this level. Extending his contract when he will only get injured again is compassion boardering on cruelty although possibly with exceptional generosity. This beggars belief. It is short sighted and lacks any sort of professionalism.
Having said all that, I wish CW well. Maybe miracles still happen. SP has already delivered more than a few.

Lets hope for the best that Conner will have a good season without any further injuries .
He had a very bad injury that has taken as we all know a long time to get over with associated injuries in the recovery period .
Keeping him wrapped in cotton wool for the last couple of months was the right decision allowing him to work on his fitness without the undue stress of gametime .

A good pre season and we will have the Wickham back we all know and love .

COYP ,COCW

And we still need a striker

Dunno about over flexible ligaments, I think it's more likely he's made out of crate paper.

Yeah, that's all fair and logical and very well thought out but you've missed out one crucial piece of reasoning:

He's not going to play the entire season as he'll be injured.

This does seem odd, but we are not wise to either a) how the physio team view his recovery, or b) what the terms are on the new deal. If the physios are saying he should be fit and ready for pre-season and we have extended his contract on lower terms then maybe the club see it as a calculated risk; after all it is only a 12 month extension. Personally I hope he does come back fit and strong (however unlikely that may be) as I still think he was showing promise before his injury.

It makes perfect sense to me. It's like having a car worth 10k but it has no wheels. You can either sell the car for 5k as it is or put 500 quid into buying new wheels and sell it for 10k.

Conor is an asset that the club have put a lot of money into so why would they just let his contract run down and he goes for free. If he happens to score 10+ goals next season then it is win win situation. We can either keep him or recoup a good chunk of the cash that went into him. Right now he isnt worth tuppence as he has hardly played for 2 years.
