With the situation with AWB somewhat foggy at the moment it seems the media are throwing us into the hat for Clyne who it is claimed could be sold this summer [Link] (link is for sky sports)

I know some people complain about us going back for old players, but I can't honestly think of a better alternative if AWB does go. If he doesn't then I can't see us getting him as I doubt he'd want to be backup.

Perfect replacement if AWB goes. Snip at £15m.

Was a great pro for us and a good player but there are a lot of rumours about his personal life and the fact he has featured so little over the last few years that this could also be a bit of a gamble.

Was gutted when he left but also don’t think he fulfilled his potential.

Has been terrible for Bournemouth, think we could spend 15m better

Bournemouth fans not impressed at all during his loan spell there.

He is not worth 15mil. A free would be about right. Is not in anyone's plans.

This has got to be an indicator as to his current playing ability at top level. Why didn't he cut it at Bournemouth when given chance to carry on playing in Premiership?

Am I correct in thinking that he was the Palace supporters' player of the season, but couldn't even be bothered to turn up for the presentation?

He did turn down a move to the PL when he had the chance and chose to stick with us for another season in the Championship, if memory serves correct. I just remember him being very popular and thinking it a big shame when he left. My knowledge of him now is admittedly somewhat out of date.

He was great for us but seemed to become a big-time Charlie after a couple of decent seasons at Liverpool. He got the tattoos, girlfriends, cars and obligatory trail of destruction.
He got injured and increasingly sidelined at Liverpool. Coming back from injury he was loaned to Bournemouth - perhaps with an option to buy. He didn't do well, however, in his defence, Bournemouth had a shocking defence anyway. In certain games, Palace being one, they were clueless in defence but okay up front.
Who knows if Clyne could shape up again? I really think a free is not out of the question. The only sides I can imagine being interested are the newly promoted ones. I do not see anyone paying 15 mil for him - nor matching his inflated wages.

Did he not allegedly have some drug issues ?
