Financial considerations aside, building a new Stand is Capital Construction while player wages and transfer fees are Operation Expense. These are two separate budgets that are not co-mingled. I would think the new stand will be financed by a type of mortgage to some degree.

Let’s look at the experience of AFC Wimbledon, Charlton Athletic & Brighton & Hove Albion. Two built or are building new, one rebuilt existing. All three have been subjected to a lengthy planning process that was stalled several times by outside factors. IMHO what is needed now is patience & vigilance. I suspect there may be pressure groups lying in the weeds for us that will demand their pound of flesh. Ain’t politics grand!?

But at the end of the day Ken, If you own it and it's losing money, or you want to make costly improvements, the money still has to come out of your pocket; it matters not what you call it. As the US investors were only offering half the projected cost of the new stand, it's obvious that the intention was/is to seek additional funding elsewhere.

And I'm sorry, but I don't by the "poor little Palace being ripped off by all these nasty people" one bit. We knew that we were going to be required to contribute to the public infrastructure improvements and if we didn't want to have to buy back land from Sainsbury's we shouldn't have sold it to them in the first place. And if we'd come up with a more modest, yet practical, scheme for a new stand, rather than a massive vanity project, we wouldn't have had to provide alternative properties for the ones that now need to be demolished.

We are sailing very close to an FFP breach and I'm not sure how long we can afford to be "patient and vigilant". We either increase our income, which was the intention of the proposed infrastructure improvements, or we sell some of our expensive and well paid assets and replace them with something cheaper.

Incorrect not sailing near FFP at all not sure why people keep coming out with that as excuse must be you don't understand how it works.

Commercial side is what needs big improvements this this what SP stated was main drive for the new stand. (Palace brand should be lot larger then it is Americans and SP have done poor job in this department)

We don't need to sell anything the last books filed showed we made a profit so again you are just making things up. (we have cleared out lot of players so plenty of room to work with on that side of things)

All very strange, we were told that the American input was to take us to the next level, and that they were investing in the club as a long term plan... not to earn a quick buck and bail out...

Then why don't you explain to us, with one of the highest wages to income ratios in the PL, a loss in the financial year before last of over £30m ( that will have increased in the last financial year), and no realistic way to inprove our income, how it works. We're all waiting with interest.

Palace made a LOSS of £33.4m in the financial year 2017/18. I check my facts before I post, perhaps a little reseach would be a good thing for you:

I agree apart from in bold. The sales offland to Sainsbury’s and developers by the Clifton happened nearly 30 years and several chairmen ago. I know what you’re saying but in the other points you’re referring to the current share owners.

Sainsbury’s have always been an obstruction but now it appears it’s the investors or the choice of choosing/agreeing with those investors.

Financial Fair Play Rules relate to overspending above income.
Ticket sales are a fraction of the income, compared to SKY money.

Palace were one of many clubs who could have made a profit with an empty stadium.
A significant current driving force for a new Main Stand is the fact its Safety Certificate is on borrowed time.

I'm glad I don't have to sort out all the 5hlt with adjacent landowners, Local Authorities and local residents. Not to mention funding

Indeed.

8th highest wage bill (higher then Leicester for instance) season before last and turn over-wage ratio of 78 percent, the highest of the League.
Still some people on here seem to think we live on the cheap. Hopefully Benteke will go and fingers crossed Meyer will prove he is worth his wages.

But we made a loss with a full stadium; without the 'other' income the loss would have been even greater. Parish has described the new stand as being "a step change" in potential revenue generation and is on record confirming there are no safety concerns with respect to the Main Stand.

I don't know...the longer this drags on with no firm start date the more I reckon its never going to happen, which means we as a club stagnate. And in the meantime imagine the impression Selhurst must make on prospective signings?

A bit dramatic don't you think?

Leicester won the league with a ground that holds only 5k more spectators than ours.

West Ham have a 55k capacity and didn't finish much higher up the table than us.

Watford's capacity is a touch over 20k and they are considered a pretty decent side these days.

Leeds have a capacity approaching 40k.... as do Sheff Weds and they are not doing all that well.

Selhurst may not be perfect but Lombardo said it was the best set of fans he had ever played for. Plus we are a London club which makes us highly desirable.

Lets be perfectly frank.. if you think Palace will ever consistently finish in the Top 6 or 7 with or without a banging ground (and without being a billionaires play-thing) you are misguided.
