Because you were the person who dismissed these crimes as being as relevant to the discussion as the price of fish. The price of fish may not be front page news but these horrific assaults were and are.

I can critique Trump easily. He has brought shame on the Office of American President by his dealings with Stormy Daniels, sacking of staff and dicking Teressa May into giving him a State visit.

Agree 100%. the man is not fit to run a bath, let alone a country.

What I commend him for is :

1. Reigning in the meeja

How so? I think the bulk of the MSM have remained cool, collected and focused under his constant attacks. Winding up his base doesn't equal reigning them in.

2. Sorting/pacifying a lot of potential 'hot-spots' with business-nous. Namely, North Korea, China, Mexico.

Disagree 100%. It's all bs. NK are playing Trump like a fish. It's beyond stupid for an American President to give the kind of propaganda victory to Kim Jong-un that Trump has. Trump needs to leave any contact to junior officials and apply pressure through sanctions. Raising the status of Kim to that of an equal is crazy. China will play it long, flatter Trump and await his departure. Trump cannot see beyond 2020. No business nous needed or involved. Mexico are similar. They need the USA more than the USA need Mexico so will gift Trump a few sound bite victories, flatter him and hope he goes away soon. Stopping the immigrants crossing their country is also in their own interests so it's win win for them. The fewer immigrants from other central American countries get through the more Mexicans America will need to do the menial work.

Not front page very often teddy.
It might have upset a portion of society and prevented our cultures from mingling and getting along.
Which hasn't happened anyway.
The reporter of the crimes got on the front page though but as an enemy of the state.

If something is irrelevant to a discussion it doesn't mean it is irrelevant does it?

It just means it is not germane to the topic under review.

Cool, like it. As relevance doesn't matter then:

There's a man outside my house cutting the green's grass with a petrol strimmer so Trump's the best President of all time.

No it doesn’t. It means you refuse to accept anything which doesn’t fit your narrative. Context is all. An MP forgetting his keys isn’t news but one who’s a spy is. In this case you’ve said there was no coercion or pressure applied to different news outlets but that they independently decided that huge scale rape was not newsworthy. That is frankly ridiculous and in this case led to unimaginable suffering on the part of hundreds of girls. If you can justify that with your logic then have at it.

You’re right on all counts.
Like a lot of people on here my opinion of TR is divided but in this case what he made public was very important and without his intervention it seems nothing would have been done.

That is simply untrue. ALL I have said was solely in response to the suggestion that the freedom of the press was somehow being compromised. Nothing I said was about whether the background case was newsworthy, or whether any coercion or pressure was applied because I don't know if any was, or not, and I suspect no-one else does either. ALL I have said is that IF the media voluntarily decided to restrain their coverage then their freedom would not have been compromised as they would have taken that decision themselves.

It was a simple, and very specific, point. Only those with an agenda to try to make some kind of issue out of it have distorted the meaning and made totally incorrect assumptions.

Maybe I can help you:-

Germane "relevant to a subject under consideration"

Subtle "so delicate or precise as to be difficult to analyse or describe"

It seems that, not for the first time, you are jumping to conclusions and not grasping what has actually been said. Maybe you don't get "subtle".

The sky at night is black, so you're wrong.

Now now!

Everyone knows that "The Sky at Night" was hosted by the late Sir Patrick Moore who was clearly white.

Which is about as relevant as anything you have contributed.

So your contention is that every media outlet decided voluntarily and simultaneously that there was nothing newsworthy in the various stories?
