Yes I believe it was home to Shrewsbury.
Cannot recall the score and I have scant little recollection of the game.

I remember being quite impressed when Wood had to wear a red shirt against Plymouth as they were were wearing green. Apparently someone had to run down to the sports shop goalpost and buy him one.... Do I get any Willo points for that

One supporter of hacking argued that without it "you will do away with the courage and pluck of the game, and I will be bound to bring over a lot of Frenchmen who would beat you with a week's practice -Blackheath secretary at first meeting of the F.A

Yes, big Vic Rouse too. I would always stand behind Vic's goal and race to the other end at half time. Fat chance of doing that today.

Yes moving round at half time sound ridiculous now, but that's what we did. At the back of the Whitehorse Lane terrace was an enormous canyon, a leftover from when the ground was a brick yard, and at the bottom of it was a corrugated-iron ladies lavatory. Not many women attended in those days presumably.
Regarding Vic Rouse, what about his goal kicks? They seemed to go miles in the days when the ball weighed a ton.

Bill Glazier was my first keeper, but his immediate successor, Tony Millington, also deserves a mention

Same for me. Millington was brought in to replace Bill but quite quickly found himself replaced by Jacko.

"Fat chance" - Is that a reflection of your current physical condition or the fact that the AW stand now gets in the way? Rouse was also my first goalie, and I certainly used to change ends. The only problem I recall was slipping on the mud at the top of the Park Road side. And on one occasion my mother tried to pick me up after a match, came into the ground when the gates were opened just before the end, and had to navigate so many beer bottles (she said) that she gave up. Nowadays I struggle to get up the steps at the Whitehorse end after the game. By the way, isn't it strange that now, as then, we still normally kick towards the Whitehorse end in the first half?

Always liked Millington, didn't play enough in my opinion. Wasn't he a Welsh international?

Just read he became wheelchair bound after a car crash at the age of 32 and died in 2015. So sad, shame Palace don't seem to care about many ex-players, the best example being Peter Simpson
