You spend your first 30 years doing your best to kill yourself, and the rest of your life trying to live longer.

Or 50 years in my case.

Quality of life is the general 'rule-of-thumb', for pets. When you take them to the vets for their final visit, it is called "doing the humane thing".

No such thing for humans. The Hippocratic Oath deters medical professionals from doing harm. Therefore, humans with degenerative diseases are unable to 'do the humane thing'.

Probably a lot of people on here have witnessed deaths of friends and relatives to cancer. Visiting medical staff have been known to secrete additional doses of dia-morphine to relatives for "when the time comes"

and yet this doctor in Belgium seems to be on the right track

I'll probably die in a stupid road accident, or stabbed by yoof

Little update:

Just had another full body scan, get the results, and implicitly an update 'departure date' on the 9th. Life's pretty good at the moment, got thrown out a drug trial for failing to get any better, so I'm on standard chemo now, but tolerating it really well, and haven't even lost my hair.

Moved on from the home shirt with 18 on the back and "still 'ere" to the very cool black away shirt with 19 and "hanging on". I think my brother and my mate are getting fed up with buying them, now I'm due for a white one with 20 and "taking the p*ss"

Last appointment with my gp he was grinning all over his face and stopped just short of saying "how the f**k are you not dead?", but I'm not for now, so I'm happy with that.

Keep talking sh*t, guys, i am still a regular reader (though i do that with a magnifying glass these days).

Not up to travel any more but i admit i stream all palace games (sorry, legal people) and i still maintain the team selection against Derby was totally ridiculous (I would have played the u23 side) but that's another story.

Be nice to each other - remember you can disagree vehemently without being a c0ck womble

As a slight aside, I have elder family members already making plans, to make probate easier.

Bank accounts and assets have been transferred to younger family members to make it easier for them to deal with officialdom. And to also swerve a chunk of inheritance tax. I understand in celebrity circles this is not tax avoidance,...but tax efficiency.

If anything goes legal with HMRC, default to the Redknapp Defence. "I forgot"

Possibly, we all die a little at a Palace home game .... I usually get a feeling of deja vu in the first 45 minutes and it always has a predictable ending?

I won't get to the point of choosing.
Snowboarding or mountain biking will get me sooner or later
