Heard it on the radio far too many times (ie, more than once). Does this s*** really pass for music these days? Is this guy really a musician? I genuinely don't get it, and I'm not *that* old.

well...for starters, vossi bop & more importantly stormzy is the forefront of the uk grime/rap scene right now & has been for the past few years. everybody who is a music geek has thru their years gone thru stages of genres that encapsulate you into that genre. when i really went thru my hip-hop/rap time it was roots manuva/ty/mos def etc who were leading that scene, and “that scene” is very much a sign of the times in that country at that point in time. nowadays by attention aims towards edm, and in particluar the german scene but i still keep an eye on the grime/rap scene, and i think slowthai will soon become the uk #1 in that genre. do i like everything stormzy has done...nope. do i think he is talented, absolutely. the worst thing you can possibly do is close yourself to certain genres of music as it lessens your ability to appreciate whats happening.

its not for me to try an edumacate people about grime music as i kinda took a sabbatical for 10 years, however it fits well into my 140bpm love in, and artists like skepta meandered into the dubstep genre when MAH brought it to the forefront of the scene. if you want to learn more, watch the wickedskengman series on youtube from before he was signed...our own wilf makes an appearance in the vids.
