We agree about something! I don't like Putin either. I think he is not just a dictator. He is a murderous despot too.

Like all such people he never says or does anything without considering the personal impact.

Therefore this statement of his seems much more a calculated massaging of the Trump ego than anything that he sincerely believes. He plays Trump, as do so many world leaders, by flattering his vanity.

What is truly sad is that the current POTUS has more in common with someone like Putin than most democracy loving Americans.

Putin is just doing more of what he has been doing ever since the spectre of Trump poked it's ugly head onto the political stage. He is sowing dissent and seeking to cause division in the western democracies.

Whatever our political views might be we ought all stay together to resist such attacks on us.

We partly agree on paragraphs one and five.

Whatever anyone's views of Putin something can be true or false independent of who says it.

My Russian neighbour thinks he is great and that he is genuinely popular in Russia with the people.

She doesn't approve of the assinations of course but then she is also not convinced Putin did it. I think most Russians don't believe or don't care after all they were traitors to Russia.

Different mind sight but then her dad was a general in the Red Army.

Very easy indeed. Populist nonsense with the moral integrity of a goebbels speech. Somebody open a window

You have the audacity to refer to nonsense when you compare it to a Goebbel's speech?

It's something to note really, I mean he's Russian, and you have the communist era which under Stalin murdered far more than Hitler managed.

Yet when you think of which regime to refer to....instead of his own countrymen you think of the WW2 Germans.

I don't agree with Putin who of course has his own agenda. I don't have a problem with democracy I do have a problem with liberal democracy.

Liberal democracy often means pushing politics and agenda that the public don't want and didn't ask for where's the democracy in that.

As for plain old democracy as Churchill said it's the worst possible system apart from all the others.

Not how the world works. How the minority are trying to change the world, including the family unit and traditional core values, not changing it to the strangest difference possible or shoving or chucking millions of people into a place when it’s been proven the 2 cultures do not mix successfully.

Stalin and Hitler - 2 sides of the same coin. One murdered undesirable races and creeds the other undesirable bourgeois and "counter revolutionaries".

I was liking his ranting foaming tosh about immigrants coming in raping babies in their cots etc. But on reflection the west already has its very own leader spouting similar gubbins so perhaps I should not have looked back that far for a comparison.

Immigration control yes. Demonising the poor feckers seeking a better life no

Are not most hard won freedoms we take for granted once pushed into law in the teeth of popular opposition?
