Reports in France apparently saying we've bid £28 million for Maximin.

Let's hope it happens, at this rate we will be struggling for 11 first team players for the Swiss tour!

I think there’s better out there for that value. Ishmael Sarr, Pavon, Bowen, Bertrand Traore, Harry Wilson, Tello, Muniain, Rafa Mir, Ontiveros.

Traore from Wolves? He's awful. Take away his pace and he has nothing.

Wolves fans are not impressed with him at all.

Bertrand Traore from Lyon. He was at Chelsea for a while as a youngster. Think he’s a really good player and reckon he’d be less than ASM.

Harry Wilson is not better than ASM, not in terms of raw ability, not that I would be against signing him.

The others I don't know much about, buy who's to say we're not in for them too, assuming they're available? We wouldn't put our eggs in one basket.

My mistake. I know who you're on about. I like him, he'd be a good signing for us and wouldn't cost too much either.

As much as I love watching players like Bolasie, I’d much sooner we signed someone with a few less step overs and more vision, ability to pass and cross and generally create chances. ASM is unpredictable and exciting to watch but I also think he’d be frustrating and less effective than having someone like Wilson who whilst doing less tricks would contribute more to winning games.

I think this is a real chance for us to build a different type of team that can work as a unit, keep the ball and depend less on one moment of magic from a player that may or may not come.

Maybe we could get a Dutch coach to help change our style....

Oops no we already tried that.

I agree, but this requires a thorough overhaul. If Zaha went you would need two players to replace him - a Che Adams/Neil Maupay/Ollie Watkins type versatile forward who can play anywhere in the front three and an out and out right winger like Maximin. You need a proper replacement for AWB, Castagne or Aarons, and crucially two midfielders who can keep the ball, McTominay for 35ish mil and Serri on loan, apart from
luka our midfield is flaky and disjointed - jimmymac/Schlupp/Meyer and kouyate are all squad players, luka is the only one you could call a reliable first teamer - 5 players costing roughly 100mil, leaving us with 20-25mil surplus prob if Wilf goes for 75/80k. But losing Wilf demands serious, in-depth and immediate restructuring of the squad. Some big salaries on some too long contracts, so it's not easy for Parrish & co to balance the books, if a few drains on the wages could be moved on that would make life easier, but you can understand the owners not wanting to spend big before they offset the costs.
