After that load of moronic crap, it was good to see a half decent act headlining last night.

The Killers aren't great but they do have a few good tunes.

I also had the misfortune to catch some of Janet Jackson.

Utterly awful.

Yes, it was a positively asthmatic vocal performance. At least The Cure on just now gave it some welly.

For £100 an hour I'd expect them jump into the saucepan then onto my toast.

I found them very boring except for when they actually did some better known songs that had more than one chord.

Robert Smith now looks like a fat clown but at least he can still sing to the same low standard as he used to.

I'm going to see KISS in a couple of weeks. Now that is a proper show. They are nearly 70 years old but still doing it.

Stormzy has just given an interesting example of identity politics. Apologising that he is not in fact the first black artist to headline Glastonbury he goes onto say that Skunk Anansie were - a rock band, half of whose members are white. So having a black member(s) of your band makes you a black artist.

Elvis Costello and Van Morrison headlined Glastonbury in 1987 and I would wager they had some black members of their respective bands. Surely they are the first black artists to headline?

Who gives a toss?

This is a White country with a 2% Black population.

How many Black headliners would you expect?

I think he was referring specifically to Skin, who most people identify with, when talking about Skunk Anansie

Sunrise clearly refers to that phenominan known as 'the dawn horn.' All us boys have been there. Only really an issue when you wake up bursting for the loo...

Indeed. It was an oversight for her to be forgotten about. Skunk Anansie were a great band too!

The apology was on account that he'd claimed something that should've actually been attributed to another artist.

But yes people should headline based on their popularity and merit, rather than either an appeal to representation (e.g 'lets have loads of black headliners'), or the percentage of those in a particular race (e.g let's have a headcount based on % of population). Both views are two sides of the same coin really.

Being the first of anything will often be noteworthy and mean something to some in said demographic. So I don't blame him for highlighting that..... even though he was in fact wrong!

The Skunk Anansie year, 1999, sounds like more my cup of tea this this year really. They headlined alongside REM and Manic Street Preachers. My main issue this year was not knowing who 99% of those performer even are :-D.
