Hmmm very interesting

oh yeah ,fcuk off brighton.

The US investors can only leave if they sell their shares to another investor(s), so there's a possibility of their being replaced by someone potentially more proactve (albeit we don't know a lot about the detail of their motivations). It's possible to contruct a convincing argument that a complete change of ownership may benefit the club, if they were motivated and funded to move the club forward, as Parish gives the impression of being happy to tread water. It's difficult to imagine any investor being happy to put in substancial sums whilst sitting quietly at the back, with Parish in the driving seat.

You need to consider that investors are only interested in their money, not the club. Parish whilst being an investor is also a fan which is different. Treading water isn’t a bad place to be, a number of clubs have been purchased by foreign owners, who promised investment etc, but it never materialised and have dropped through the leagues.
Apart from being in the Premier league, I can’t see why a foreign investor would plough a lot of money into us. We don’t have a great history, playing in a poor run down stadium which is difficult to get to and improve.

The Yankee Doodles have now realised the team is consistently scraping its arse on the drop zone. They are uncomfortable with the risk of losing all the riches of Premiership football and there's nothing else to sustain their interest. $hit hole Park development will take forever and clearly, they are not in it for the long-term. However, without a decent stadium it will probably be difficult to sell on their investment.

Clearly nothing going to happen to the stadium anytime soon. May as well consign this thread to fantasy talk.

I'd tend to agree.

Should of used all that money they wasted on the planning and pr stunts to just blow the place up and then claim insurance on it.

place is a s**t hole and being realistic needs knocking down and rebuilding if they want to stay on that site.

I would appreciate someone talking me through the rationale of spending £100m on developing the stadium whilst increasing the capacity by <10k.

It's more than 10k and how much do you think a new main stand costs?
It also houses all the clubs offices, leisure facilities, changing rooms, etc so it is more than overdue.

The current facilities are embarrassing.

I would say that more effort could be made to fit more seats in, given the potential limits in developing the other stands. Why have a curve?

The curved shape minimises the impact on the Wooderson Close Houses at one end (just getting rid of the 6 houses we need to with a curved design is proving a major headache), and on Sainsbury's car park at the other end (again, land we do not own).

The other benefit of the curved shape is that the largest number of seats are over the halfway line where premium prices can be commanded, compared to the corner flag ends, where the depth of rows is less

I don't understand.

How would filling in the area either side of the curve affect anything?

The height of the stand would remain exactly the same.

I assumed that the curvature of the outer design made for a curved seating area and the better view in the middle as a bi product, but surely the seating area infrastructure does not have to mirror the outer design?

The plans are still online on the Croydon Council website, so you can see exactly what goes where on every level of the stand.

Incredibly, the height wasn't an issue. Two of the biggest sticking points holding things up are the removal of the Wooderson Close houses and doing a deal with Sainsburys - in both cases CPFC does not own the land it needs to build even this design with tapered ends.

If Palace had gone for 70+ rows across the whole length of the stand, then it would have been an even bigger job to get the land that we need, because the footprint of the structure would have been colossal
