Should be unveiled in a day or two then. I've ordered his name to be put on my son's new kit.

Wow, you’ve jumped the gun with this one. This is palace after all and our transfer policy is woeful. Wouldn’t be surprised if this fell through

20 million??! Ffs....

The boy has never played in a 4-4-2 system at Atalanta.

You could even get Italy right back national team starter Florenzi for that kind of money. Or Yedlin from Newcastle who's a certainty in the PL. I think you could even get Aurier from Tottenham for about 25.

Not that a right back would be worth all that money. Borussia Moenchengladbach of Germany got Stefan Lainer from Salzburg for 12 million, signed him until 2024, a much better player than Castagne both offensively and defensively in my interpretation.

There were right backs like Rafael and van der Wiel free of contract, experienced right back who played at top level and you know they can cut it.

Eintracht Frankfurt got Almamy Toure, a great prospect at just 22 years, for 0.75 from AS Monaco (I remembwr Palace were linked with him 2 years ago- where did that go that they couldn't even snap him up for that money?)

Napoli paid 8 million for a very good right back, Giovani di Lorenzo, better than Castagne.

Angolan-Portuguese Buta and Cameroonian African Cup of Nations winner Collins Fai, playing in Belgium's league for second place Antwerp and third place Standard Liege, are very cheap options, but very young and with high sell-on value.

Dijon of France just got Portuguese wing-back Mama Balde FOR FREE. 23 years old, a little older than AWB, but exactly the same type of combative player who can play both as right back and right midfieldwr. He played in thebsecond and first Portuguese leagues and is exactly at the level where AWB was 1 year ago when he was playing for the U21s.

I agree. I don’t think we should be spending 20m on a right back. Plenty of good right backs out there for better money. I’d prefer Aaron’s for 20m

Perhaps we are signing him to play as a wide midfielder allowing Wilf (if he stays) to play up front in a 4-4-2.
Maybe we have someone else in mind to play at right back.

You do know we have just sold AWB for £50 million don't you?

Two points:
1) Why would Norwich sell him to us for that:
2) Why would he want to join Palace

Why were they interested in signing TC then?

Well, he's not really a Zaha type of wide midfielder either.

He only played in a 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 as a wingback.

Not really that good offensively to play what Zaha or Townsend play.

And unknown how good defensively in a back 4 instead of a back 3 or 5.

There are totally different spaces. I remember Spain's national team's coach didn't want to take Marcos Alonso in their squad cause he was playing in a 3-4-3 system.

And Marcos Alonso really isn't the same wonderful player as a left back in a 4-4-2 system.
