Wel, he's not really a Zaha type of wide midfielder either.

He only played in a 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 as a wingback.

Not really that good offensively to play what Zaha or Townsend play.

And unknown how good defensively in a back 4 instead of a back 3 or 5.

Atalanta actually play 3-4-1-2. I would imagine we are buying him to play RB (and possibly cover as LB) not as a midfielder. Is Wilf really a midfielder?

I've just ordered Wilf for my shirt.

Understandable, he will always be a palace legend regardless if he stays or goes.

An adult male in a replica shirt with another mans name on his back is understandable? Oh dear.

I used to work with a Geordie, worked in London but still had a season ticket so quite partial, whose name was Shearer. I said you must be chuffed - a Newcastle number 9 shirt with your own name on it. He swore a bit and said he still had Ferdinand on his.

My point (which has been missed) is I don’t think we should waste €20m on an average RB. I follow the Italian league and this guy is hardly pulling up any trees.

I think in modern football, the position of rb/lb you need pace, you need to be quick. You play against the fastest players. I’ve seen milk floats do a u-turn quicker than this guy. He will get found out and for the money there is much better out there.

Plus do we really want to spend half the AWB money on a rb

Haven’t brought a football top since around 2002 so I can’t comment

Agree for that sort of money we need a defender that can defend.

I didn't miss your point, I don't think but apologies if I did.
I am not a twitter user but my son is, he has referred me to a twitter user by the name of AtalantaNow, this person is a season ticket holder and has given a low down on TC after several Palace fans have asked him about the player:
In summary, Outstanding defensively, effective going forward, can play right or left and is a very good leader. He also stated, no disrespect to Palace but I thought he would move to a top 6 club
Having seen this from someone who watches the player week in week out, I for one, am very excited about this potential signing.
It is a large fee but this is the sort of amount PL clubs will be expected to play, bearing in mind he is 23 and full international, we got £50 million for AWB who has not played a full international

Football is one of opinions and who am I to argue with a local club twitter fan site. I haven’t seen the guy week in week out, but in the league of serie A, he is hardly talked about as a top six player. Before being linked with Palace, no one had really heard of him outside of Atlanta.

As I said before, lack of pace worries me for a wb/rb and I think 20m is a lot. Especially for a team with a tight budget.
