It's boiled down to a buffoon and a remainer.

Gotta go with BoJo simply because he meets the only qualifying requirement for the job in hand: he voted to leave. I've got no idea how Hunt is even a consideration given he voted remain.

BoJo will get it done through sheer bumbling Eatonian detachment. No deal will happen as he won't even read any document to the contrary and just bluff through it leaving the bureaucracts to tidy up the loose ends.

Great stuff, just the man for the job.

Yep, after several 'remainers' in a row as Tory leader the time for a 'leaver' is way overdue.

All parties should reflect their grass roots who pay the membership fees and turn up for the donkey work.....It shouldn't be about the elites within the top tier.

For the sake of those that didn't see it Boris Johnson was at his rabble rousing best and there is no doubt that he is a brilliant public speaker who can bring the feel good factor to his audience but he doesn't answer questions.

Almost every difficult question that he was asked he managed to evade including whether he would allow the UK ambassador to USA to continue in his job. Jeremy Hunt asked him whether he would resign if he hadn't got the UK out of the EU by 31st October as he promised and he waffled round that one as well.
Hunt also asked him why he made tax cuts for the rich his first pronouncement on taxation and there was yet more waffle without answering the question.

Hunt can't rouse an audience like Boris but at least he answered the questions, even difficult ones like would he keep on the ambassador to USA which was a question that Boris tried to evade.

The final question asked by the audience was "Which characteristic of your opponent do you admire the most".

Boris said that it was Hunt's ability to change his mind, being a reference to him originally being a Remainer and Hunt said that Boris's best characteristic was his ability to not answer a question but to waffle on so long that you forgot what the question was anyway.

I've just remembered something else.

Boris was asked by a member of the audience why he hadn't done his homework properly about Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe when he was Foreign Secretary as his lack of research had probably cost the woman jail time.

Boris blustered away stating loudly that we shouldn't be deflected from the real villains of the piece which were the Iranian National Guard.

I must admit that when the hustings started I was quite pro Boris but now I'm not so sure

In my humble estimation Hunt performed far better than Boris Johnson in the TV debate.

He had a persona of professionalism and he was punctilious providing answers to questions, whereas Boris was full of his usual bluster and patently avoided answering some questions put to him.Not one of Boris' finest performances.

I have yet to cast my vote in the Leadership election.

Not backing Kim Darroch is shameful in my view.

Respect for admitting it.

I have to admit that I was surprised at the number of decent Conservatives I know who were happy to support someone so blatantly incompetent, and probably more importantly, so untrustworthy.

Perhaps naively, I expected more Tory voters to object.

Johnson is a big picture and motivational politician.

Hunt is a details man for sure but he's also a corporate 'yes man' who would probably lose to Corbyn as he's as popular as acne on your c0ck.

I am dead against this crowning by the conservative party of a new PM.

Labour did the same with Callaghan and Browne, who both got the boot by the public when they could vote.

IMO making Johnston PM will have serious consequences.

What a hot air balloon, doesn't do any kind of detail does he? Endless baseless optimism and pseudo waffling avoidance.

Hunt looks normal, I am suspicious.

Oh come on Steely.....it's all a merry go round anyway.

Personally I can't stand Hunt....I'd rather have Diane Abbott.

That's it....Let's start the campaign for Diane Abbott as new leader of the Conservative party.
