It was on the day of sentencing they were already found guilty of the disgusting behaviour! I'm not making him out as a hero! The people who should be in jail are the police and the people who ignored and didn't act on this crime when first reported You realise there were several linked trials right?

Because the juries of the other trials could have been influenced by knowledge of what was happening in this trial, and they were relying on those in this trial and the other perpetrators yet to go to trial to testify against each other in order to ensure the ringleaders got the right sentences.
