shows a total lack of understanding of our legal system.

To go further and assert that this is state driven persecution is both risible and ridiculous.

Those rape victims know all about 'our legal system'

As was pointed out to me this wasn't a jury trial, possibly for this very reason, but that's just a guess. It was decided by a Judge who would not be affected by anything other than the evidence.

Where's your evidence for that?

The fact is these are two judges appointed by the Attorney General, who is a standing Tory MP, to retry Robinson on completely different charges after the original ones were thrown out.

That's the evidence for political persecution.

You are quite stupid aren't you? All what he stated was already out there for Joe public to see. Should the BBC journalist be up in court as well?

In the right place in the right way and not by breaking legally applied reporting restrictions.

No it isn't! It's the evidence of your bias.

Judges are appointed by the Judicial Appointments Commission which is an independent body chaired by a layperson.

The charge was still that he committed a contempt of Court offence. Why the wording was different is unknown to me, but I assume it might have been because of a need to avoid "doubly jeopardy" considerations!

From all I read he was doing his best to get re-prosecuted by making political statements to the Judge etc.

The AG concluded that it was in the public interest to bring fresh charges. That's not persecution. That's asking a Judge to decide if someone has committed a crime after they had been freed on a technicality. Persecution would only be a consideration if he had originally been found not guilty.

Might all be true BUT has zilch to do with the fact that "Robinson" broke the law.

Why you guys cannot see that beats me!

5 times newspapers committed contempt of court where high-profile murder or assault trials collapsed or were halted. They were simply fined. [Link]

More evidence of the authoritarian police state we are edging towards if the powers that be get their way. They don't want free speech or a free press. If you don't follow the way THEY want you to then they will throw you in jail.

'Met Police Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu advised editors it "could be a criminal matter" if they published leaked government documents after the UK ambassador situation.' [Link]

No surprise with the likes of leftist Cressida Dick as Met Commissioner who should keep her political ideology away from the job.

Sure I have bias, it tends to be towards the truth.

You have bias but you spend time denying it as you make your ridiculous arguments.

I've looked at that and I don't see anywhere where it says it appoints judges to specific cases.....only that it appoints judges into being judges.

The fact reminds that Robinson was freed from his ridiculous prison sentence only for the attorney general of this land.....a standing MP who has made previous anti Robinson comments....to send him to retrial.

Your contention that all the money being spent on this by the government is just being left up to chance a second time just exposures your contentions for the biased simplistic buffoonery that they are.

Typical Wisbech....when something is for his bias suddenly the motivation of people is something you are very happy to attribute to them....as seen in the Trump thread.

However, when the contention is against your bias then the reasons why something is done is suddenly a mystery to you.

He knew he was going down.....Not going meekly and accepting this show trial is his right.

State persecution......convicted on subjective charges by a corrupt state.
