I thought he had some really good games last year and runs his socks off.. Think about what £2m gets you these days.
Also, anyone who cries when they score for us gets my vote on passion alone.
If it had been £8m or above id have seriously questioned it and criticised the recruitment team but for reportedly £2.5m, thats good business.

Spot on. He was pants at the start of his time with us, never became exceptional but had some strong games. I have a feeling he can become a little better in his second year and will be good to have around.

A premiership striker who is able to run around. However, did score 1 goal, what ambition, what a joke!

It’s 2.5 million quid.

Ffs.

You cannot buy Sorloth for that, even now.

It’s a shrewd signing, there is zero downside and the lad can do a job and is a regular international in a good side.

Get a grip, this is a good signing.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

What makes this a good signing? Simply the price certInly not ability!

Perhaps, but they'd still be a better option than Ayew. How much will it cost us if we go down?

Well I’d hope they’d be better at 10 times the price.

A lot, but we’re not going to down because we signed Ayew for £2.5m - we’re going to go down if we fail to address the glaring holes in our squad, but looking at this piece of business in isolation it is not bad.

Sorloth cost us nearly 4x the amount... which says it all about the state of the market and finding value squad options.

People moaning for the sake of moaning.

As with any transaction it’s about return on investment - as I said above, if we get 5 goals out of Ayew for £2.5m, it’s a bargain.

We’ve spent the best part of £50m on Wickham, Sorloth and Benteke, none of whom I particularly fancy to outscore Ayew next year. That is our problem, not picking up a squad player on the cheap.

He got 1 last season so what makes you think he'll get 5?

The fact he has hit 7 Prem goals in 2 of the last 5 years. Players have good and bad seasons.

I am underwhelmed but understand he is a good squad addition and one must assume this is the case.

If Ayew turns out to be our only signing then, yes, we will be entitled to feel annoyed, upset, worried or whatever.

However, if we bring in a few more decent signings then the Ayew deal wouldn't be that bad. He is quite a skillful player with good control but so far hasn't managed to apply that to any great extent in his game time with us. That goal he got away at Wolves last season was superbly taken so hopefully there is more of that to come.

Maybe now that he has secured a permanent position, rather than bring on loan we might get to see more goals as he probably will have a better sense of belonging - maybe more relaxed within himself!

As others have said, slightly underwhelmed, however, context is everything and if we purchase more marquee type signings then this is a good deal for the price. I have no doubt he will score more than the one last year based upon his historic record of goals.

If he turns out to be our main signing - then it’s timd to worry - that time is not now!

Let’s wait and see who else comes in!
