England needed spin option so they worked on his bowling which became adequate but not great. He lost all form with the bat though and now is a poor spinner who can bat a bit sometimes. We may as well choose an out and out spinner now.

Yep, I thought Ali was going to be a stand in before they went and found the actual best spinner in England....instead England did the 'he's mates with the captain, we won't drop him' routine.

I can't be too detrimental about Ali as I support Worcestershire. I'm just not sure if there are many spinners out there playing the county game. I can't think of any Giles/ Tufnell/ Swann types currently. But I do not necessarily follow much other than Internationals and Worcs.
