Wasn’t long ago Sako was on 60k a week after signing on a free from Wolves and he was always injured. 75k a week for a player with Cahill's experience, it’s not so bad. I think he might do well for us.

This sums up how desperate and poor we really are.

A guy who has not played for a while couldn't get in the team and it looks like no other clubs interested we go and get on high wages plus hes like 33/34

SP has to step down.

We didn't even need a player in this position we have many already with other positions being high priority

It was my understanding that Cahill had a few clubs to choose between...mainly us and Burnley.

We did need him. He’s a better right back than Joel Ward. (I know, I know, he’s a centre back). He’s still a better right back than Joel Ward. (Not knocking Joel Ward, either)

I don't love it, but don't hate it. 75 k for Cahill sounds like a steal given the level he has been at. SP has actually done well to not overpay here. We are only paying wages and won't get a transfer fee at the end, but he can clearly still do a job and brings some serious experience with him. We are now in a strong position at CB, and could move Dann on if we think he has lost it, though resale value would probs not be huge right now. Would be great to get a young talent in as Sakho, Tomkins and Cahill would be great to learn from. Kelly I'm guessing will be used more on the right then. Obviously we want at least one striker and a winger as well as a new right back, but if the right players aren't there for the right prices I'd take a loan to cover them.

Is that why they are trying to get back at us and steal Camarasa

Happy we got him on a free but concerned about the wages though. He has proven to be a reliable CB and brings tons of experience at the highest level. Gives us the option to move Kelly to RB but we really need a specialist RB. Above all we need a decent proven striker (or 2). Welcome aboard the Palace rollercoaster Mr. Cahill.

I'm not so sure, it's top end for me for a squad player, due to his age. It's the kind of signing that could go either way really.

Whatever happened to Ward. I was never one of those good-enough-for-England types from his first couple of years in the division but he was a solid Premier League player. He's still in his 20's but seems to have fallen off a cliff

I think it's a good move getting a solid experienced defender to help replace AWB. There's little chance this turns out to be a disaster, which is a good thing given our history of signings.

Now if we could turn our AWB money into a decent attacking midfielder and/or decent striker, we'd be in pretty good shape for the season.
