Let me quote your post if I must.

'I sincerely hope this isn’t an attempt to legitimise the motives of a terrorist, or to build sympathy with his cause'.

Can you highlight where I talked about justification for murder? No, I didn’t think so.

Read the guy's own words.....it's replacement.

Like I said, If politicians are reflecting their base's attitudes it isn't encouraging people to go out and murder.

When that happens...the wheels have really come off.

If a politician doesn't reflect their base that isn't democracy.

Sure, but what has lead him to the sort of mental state that he considers this an appropriate response? You have to look at his sources of information etc, which is where politicians come into it.

I think you’re conflating two points; you can’t tell me the only way Trump could reflect his base is to be as inflammatory as he is?

So you think that 'legitimising terrorist motives' and justifying his actions mean something completely different in this context?

Don't waste my time. Anyone reading that post knows exactly where you were going and why.

Again, so dramatic - you appear to have plenty of time to waste.

I have no interest in discussing further.

I don't see how it's conflating myself.

Trump was essentially stating that south Americans are more criminal and murderous than north Americans (Europeans).....something that is just factual statistically....it's not a comment on anyone individual.

He's been the first politician who had the balls to come out and say it....and it didn't harm his voting share with hispanics.....But today I see that he's started to speak the language of his opposition....He rightly needed to condemn such a terrible and immoral act but I think he choose the wrong language....language which can be used against him.

It will be interesting to see how that plays out with his base.

Anyone who does will be branded a racist or a nut. That is how it works.

Show me the reliable data that disproves it.

I already have! Go and actually read the UN report that I referenced for you. That totally debunks your theory. A theory for which you have provided no evidence of any kind other than your own assumptions.

Sorry belatedly picking up on this. Perhaps it is because those who make the rules are not comfortable with the thought of any of their own being terrorists?

Thanks for the link.

Surely the clear difference is that the Ohio guy didn’t seem to be targeting anyone specifically, whereas the El Paso guy very clearly did - one was evidently politically motivated, one does not seem to be.

If there were more examples of politically motivated left-wing killers I would agree with your point, but the numbers don’t particularly seem to support that?

Is/was a registered Democrat. Asides more people were shot & wounded in Chicago this weekend yet barely gets a mention. No whities killed or maimed you see just another set of Black on Black shootings. It doesn't fit the Democratic mantra mainly because it's happening in one of their 's***holes'

And of course, you accept it without question.

Perhaps you would like to reproduce the statistics and reasoning behind your denial.

The trouble with your data from what I have seen is that it does not take into account increasing migration and the effect on genetics. It only talks about birth and mortality rates on the various continents.

One thing it does highlight is the rapid drop of European population after 2050. That will mean more and more economic migrants.

People who want to commit appalling crimes will always find a justification. In the past we've had cases in the US such as:

TV made me do it
Violent comics books made me do it
Video games made me do it
Rap music is responsible

Trump is a bully and just the latest excuse.

The real issue here is why the self serving politicians are not banning guns or at the very least bringing in stricter control. Trump is pro gun but I suspect this is not idealogical with him it is where he sees the votes he could go the other way.

Obama said the right things but still nothing happened. The public should save their anger for those that block gun reform. Get rid of the senators and representatives who are pro gun lobby and the President(s) will act if they think they can get legislation through.

Whatever excuses people offer the plain fact is that if the guns didn't exist then they could not be used.

I fully realise the different culture that exists in the USA and the extreme difficulties that would have to be overcome to achieve any kind of significant change. It can only be done in small steps over a significant period.

The biggest problem is the NRA who have many politicians by the sphericals because they rely on their funding. You cannot therefore just "get rid of them". Changing the way interest groups can fund, and therefore influence, politicians has to become a priority. If the alleged connection of the IRA to Russia can be proven in Court then a dent can possibly be made in their power. I believe the evidence for this exists but whether there is the political will to pursue it is an open question.

Trump isn't really "pro-gun"! Trump is only ever pro-Trump. Everything he does is focused on remaining as POTUS. It supporting the NRA helps achieve that then he will do it. Whether it costs lives is immaterial.

The House Democrats have proposed many changes to improve gun laws, improving background checks and limiting the sale of automatic weapons. They know full well that these have zero chance of passing in the Senate, where the GOP dominate. It's like trying to impeach Trump. They know it won't happen but still need to get the subject out there, so it can be put in front of the people.
