I can't be the only one who thinks he is exactly what we need at the right salary ?

An experienced Prem striker with a good work rate and would chip in with around 10-12 goals if he stays fit IMO...

If we got Sturridge I'd be very concerned, but Welbeck is a reasonable option providing he lowers his wages demands.

He isn't worth breaking the bank for but certainly an option if cheap at the death.

The rumour is Welbeck wants a signing on fee of £5M and £100K per week and while he may reduce those demands a little as the end of the window draws closer, for me its a no given his injury history.

I would far rather buy a younger player, accept we may have to pay quite a lot more in terms of fee but probably have lower wages.

Its still a risk, as every transfer is, but if it works out at least there is a resale value in the future.

There is never going to be any future value for Welbeck and he may spend more time in the treatment room than on the pitch.

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.

If Danny’s financial demands are just rumour, then he has to be a worthwhile proposition.
As long as he isn’t permanently damaged ,that is.
In general he is not actually injury prone, I,e. Through natural weakness. His problem is he gets involved, and he gets in where it matters , which will always be dangerous for him. Having that compete every side ,and the goals he has always got makes him well worth a look.

Don't get me wrong - i think Welbeck has been a really good player and I would have loved him 3 years ago. I just see him as a much bigger risk now than a younger player with a potential sell on value. He is rightly trying to secure the best deal for himself but I am unconvinced he is right for us now.

Reckon at the death Welbeck will lower his wage demands to find a club and we will sign him. The Spammers aren't interested so he's probably going to come our way.

We all know how this ends... either Welbeck or Sturridge on Thursday or after window closes

Dougie should head for Heathrow if he is looking for strikers.

If he lowers his wage demands, maybe instead accepts big bonuses for appearances and goals instead, then I'd be happy to have him, but we absolutely cannot risk putting all our eggs in one basket with such an injury doubt. We need a striker we can rely on, now.

If he lowers his wages I'd take Wellbeck on a one year deal with the option off a 2nd year if he plays 20 games.

As long as he hasn’t got a permanent injury, Danny has to be a good option for Palace. He is only twenty eight. Still in his prime years.
What he wants to earn , is not really known beyond rumour, as things are , whatever it is some will think it’s to high.
He puts himself about, scores a reasonable number of goals. Gets some wacks because he doesn’t hide. We could do a lot worse, even if we lashed out another big fee.
