Looks like Everton have just squeezed in a deal for Iwobi, so they won't be coming back for Wilf in January, presumably.

Ask me about Ronald de Boer.

Haha, hilarious, he is not that great. Newcastle/Watford have pulled off the best coup in picking up Maximin and Sarr, two players Everton could have chased ages ago.

Now Wilf is staying, I think this looks a good move if we can afford him and he buckles down. He might sign for a year hoping to prove himself

If he can effectively replace Bats then our goals for should be OK. Last season was the only time we have scored more than 50 in the EPL.

Yes, probably the best option available.

so much downside Wilf loves playing not our fault nobody would offer the right package.

Hats off to the board for not giving him away, but would have liked to have signed the Russian lad which i think they could have got

Sorry but allow me a moment some may view as blasphemy.

I think Wilf has acted like a petulant spoilt brat in all of this.

My suspicion is he made his annual trip to see SP and demanded more.

He got the brush off and since then has had others agitate for him as he doesn't fancy doing his dirty work.

To put in a request so late was another act of pettiness.

Wonder how he will react on the pitch? Not O want him around right now until he explains his actions and displays a decent attitude to his employer and us fans.

Wilf has improved massively in the last 2 seasons and the stats around our win rate with him playing and not show how important he is to us. The board are fully aware of this and we would have to get at least 2 or 3 players in to try and replace him. No-one was willing to stump up the cash we required so he stays, 1 thing with Wilf is, no matter if he wants to move on to bigger things, he loves the club and the fans. He will also know that it in his best interest to continue to put in the performances he has done in order to get that move he wants.

I suspect that this will all blow over in the next week, Wilf will be back doing what he does best, the fans will be happy he is still in the shirt for awhile longer and come January we will get a silly offer that is too good to turn down...which we wont use to buy replacements! The rollercoaster goes on.

The bit where he wants to play it for someone else and gets his family to bleat about us dropping the price to allow him to.

If I was Roy I would suggest to Wilf that we rate him higher than Everton do as they were not prepared to pay the asking price. I would suggest he then go and show Everton what they are missing out on.

Exactly.

Wilf will have learnt 2 lessons from this
- it’s a market of supply and demand and in reality no Champions League Clubs came in for him. Only Everton and Arsenal made bids so clubs at the very top have doubts about him or are already properly resourced and are not worried about rivals picking him up
- -if he wants out he needs to ensure there is a properly defined release clause to enable this to happen.
I think the most likely scenario now is for a proper release clause to be included in his contract as trust appears to have broken down between Zaha and Parish and we have always been given to understand that there was a close bond between them.
Ideally we would have bought a replacement this window to allow him to settle in prior to selling Zaha in the next year.
Unfortunately the club don’t operate this way.
