I was told that type 2 eventually leads to type 1 unless there is a lifestyle change or they kick the bucket.....as diabetes is a progressive disease.

Both types are serious.....but type 1 is much more dangerous.

I've never heard of one type of diabetes turning into another as they are quite different, so would doubt this to be true

cryrst appears to be a type 1 pro. My only observation of type 2 in family as its prevalent would be that as the decades pass, circulation and eye sight issues can be a real problem. It may apply more to those on injections as their condition becomes less manageable.

Yes but my point being that his cost for the foreseeable is going to be enormous with insulin and associated.
Type 2 is lifestyle I know but plenty have it which isnt.
Much like cancer not being directly linked to lifestyle in all cases.
Dementia also so the NHS cannot be selective in who it treats as some are stating.

Fat people are down the list and we need to define what constitutes 'fat' because it's not so easy.

I agree with this. What has got me thinking is who would determine if they are obese and should be left to die. Would there be a weigh bridge in all NHS buildings and a red light flashes and all their medications are taken away and sent on there way to die.

Mr Buerk is living up to his name.

Increase tax on fast foods, processed, Sugars, booze etc. Take it to smoking levels.

Subsidise the cost of healthier foods.

A lot of research showing that type 1 can be linked to poor choices when they are babies/children also the mothers poor lifestyle.

The cost will be nothing if you have type 1 they provide what is needed on NHS it's only if you want more advanced products etc that will cost but these are a choice.

Correct type 2 is lifestyle disease the same with what is classed as type 3 by lot of medical professionals (dementia)both linked to carbs/sugar.

You can't comment on cancer because no one knows the true cause scientific data backs this up the only data they have is how some lifestyle choices or events can increase the odds but that doesn't mean you will get it.

Regarding others comments on type 2 turning into type 1 that is not possible but that is just because these are labels if a type 2 person refuses to do changes they do become the same as a type 1 which will require insulin shots for rest of their life.

Type 1 and 2 cause the same damage to body even pre diabetes does a lot of damaged but isn't taken serious so for anybody to claim this type does more then that is false it comes down to each person and lifestyle from all types of diabetics.

A lot of type 1 have awful lifestyles and think they can have carb/sugar just take more insulin which is why you see a fair amount of those with extra weight on them as well.

I’m not to sure about the ‘left to die’ bit but I can kind of see what he’s trying to get at... I suppose you could say the same about smokers but at least they contribute millions towards the economy in tobacco tax... Do fat people pay a pie tax?!

That’s fine as long as anorexics are treated the same way.

Anorexia is an illness... Is just liking food to much an illness??.. I mean that sincerely and not piss taking... I’m pretty sure anorexia is a proven medical condition but I’m not so sure liking food to much is although I’m happy to be proved wrong..
