'US Supreme Court gives go-ahead for Trump wall funding' [Link]

Trump has changed the makeup of the supreme court, and it will likely stay conservative dominated for 20 years or more.

So - big deal, the conservative supreme court allowed a small section of the border wall to be built with pentagon funds.

Who cares.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

Well it might mean the end of affirmative action, and big tech in its present form....... especially if Trump wins in 2020.

Fantastic news.
We've got water, trumps got a wall.
Nearly twins.
God bless the USA.

What a surprise!

Trump appoints a conservative Justice to ensure the SCOTUS confirms his decisions. So they do. Now a small part of the huge sum which would be required to actually build a "wall" is to be diverted from the military budget on the entirely spurious "trumped up" basis of a national emergency.

This money will achieve nothing at all other than give Trump headlines about "winning", which is actually all he really cares about.

Having the highest court in the land subject to political influences in this way is nothing short of corrupt. Justice needs to be served by the most able and not by those sympathetic to any particular political viewpoint. We ought not even be aware of a Judge's political leaning.

Now I read that the Democrats plan to increase the number of Justices if they win in 2020 so the current balance can be reversed.

This isn't a wise way to run a judicial system.

By the way the water has always been there. So have boats, and for the last few years a tunnel.

There isn't a wall either, and even if there was it would make very little difference as most illegals come through the official checkpoints. All it would do is increase costs and the ways that illegals use to find a way in.

The only way to control illegal immigration is by working with other countries, those they come from and those they pass through.

I have to wonder if we do crash out of the EU without a "deal" in place, whether illegal immigration will increase as a result. I cannot see the French being over active in stopping illegals trying to cross the channel, either in trucks or on boats. I expect our own officers who are now in France will be required to leave.

One of the few things I can agree on.....this is entirely symbolic....entirely about 'winning', nothing of major significance is being achieved here.

Don't get me wrong, more wall is better than less wall....even for Democrats as it provides future options. However, it isn't going to stop the turning of America into a majority latino country it only delays it a few more years....and hell it's only a small fraction of the required funding anyway.

Again, don't get me wrong....a part of me has sympathy with that....insomuch as north America isn't European.....Europe is.....it's going to be interesting watching the Republicans slowly change into a more directly honest 'Anglo Saxon/European' identity movement and moving away from the irreverence of being about 'civic nationalism'.....which will see them losing all power.

However for now, this is all about sticking it to the Democrats.....while they can.

Gosh, that would be as bad as any UK Government handing out peerages to their followers to get their preferred legislation through the House of Lords, wouldn't it?

Oh, hang on though........

Oh, hang on though........

If it were true it would be, but hang on...............

The Lord's can't actually get any legislation though anything.

They are able to suggest improvements but enact nothing.

The Lords can block legislation and require the nuclear option to circumvent.

The Lords have utility and hence have a political purpose.

Yet more pointless pin dancing.

Joe Biden just said in a speech.
'Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.'

Mucho Amuseo.

All whites appear to be rich then.
