as i said before excuses. Clear example is people have the time to go into the likes of Costa or other places to buy food on the go well you work out the time spent in those places it could easily add up to preparing food at home but people are lazy now they want everything instant handed to them no effort this is why we have so much processed rubbish. The whole not turning up thing is silly anyway if you have an appointment and not turned up few minutes into that time you just call the next person. I know some one will say but next person may not be their well why not you should always be their 5 min before your appointment i know hospital appointments they state this.

People who go the dentist and have some kind of care of their teeth and at least some organisation will be easier to charge than some of the people who don’t turn up to the GP and without a regular income, means to pay, bank account, etc etc. However, we’re forever making allowances for people that maintain these problems.

It looks like a lot of GP surgeries are now using the 2 strike rule miss one you get warning do it again you are removed from the practice

I like the theory but in practice it won't be fair. The first thing they will do is exempt the old, the young the poor and the chronically sick leaving the working tax paying person as the only payer, yet again. There is a better solution for reducing missed appointments. All appointments should be conditional and the patient must confirm their attendance on the day and before a certain time. Anyone who doesn't confirm has their appointment cancelled and given to those who need one urgently. Confirming your attendance can be done by technology e.g. internet, SMS text or option on the practice telephone system without the need of a human being. The practice staff will know by say 9am how many appointments they have spare that day. It won't resolve everything but it should allow them the mange it much better. If someone turns up without confirming the staff will try and fit them in but if not make another appointment.

You bring a prepared meal in from home.. it gets kept in the Police station in your team fridge and you go out on patrol in the cars. You’re due your break at 6pm.. At 5.50pm you’re dispatched to a sudden death (person found dead) However there is a kebab shop 30 yards from where you are at the sudden death. Do you go 8 hours without eating or pop to the kebab shop to get a burger to eat in the car???? Is that just an excuse??

In your bag in the boot of the car yes but it all depends on what you have brought in… It's easy to say just bring in cold food but in the summer that needs to be refrigerated and in the winter sometimes you want something hot... Many times, especially since the Tory cuts you don't even get to eat as you are literally flat out for the entire shift.
