You don't serve to defend "elites"! You serve to defend your country, your family and their futures.

I am quite certain my father, who at 14 just missed WW1 but served in the Royal Navy for 20 years afterwards and throughout WW2, and saw his battleship sunk off Malaya would be very, very proud of the way the UK has developed to the social democracy it is today.

He had no time at all for the British Empire and those that ruled in his youth. Like so many servicemen he voted against Churchill at the post war election. He respected Churchill as a war leader but not as someone to lead us in peacetime.

This idea that all our forefathers thought as the right wing caucus here does is just bs. It's attempting to find support from the dead who are unable to actually tell you what they think.

Of course it's not an exact science. It's predictions. Of course a prediction can be wrong, either way. We could just as easily see lower figures.

However, whilst you must continually monitor the actual to see if they match the predicted and adjust your responses accordingly, you must plan to meet the most likely outcome and not the worst case scenario.

You might need to prepare contingency plans to be able to cope with worst case scenarios but you don't base all your expectations on them.

All you are doing is producing doom and gloom when what we need to actually do is be positive and prepare properly.

That's why objective, well researched forecasts are made and not just ignored because they don't happen to fit your narrative.

No one does. Including you.

The forecasts have a wide range with a median point.
The median should not be taken to mean more likely.

It is just the middle point of a range. Nothing more.
It is entirely dependant on data applied to it and could change from one decade to the next.

People like you must work in town planning and highway development.

I thought you didn't know what you are talking about. Thanks for confirming it.

Median points are just median points.

They don't represent the most probable outcomes. All kinds of other assessments are needed to judge where on a wide range of possibilities the most probable is to be found.

The median point just represents the middle between the two extremes. It is probable that the most likely will be found closer to it than either extreme, but that's not the same thing.

To suggest that either extreme has as much validity as the assessed most likely outcome is just nonsensical.

I worked in sales and marketing first, general management second, and business ownership third. Never as a public servant!

That is what I have just told you. You are losing the plot.

You then go on to contradict yourself.

The median is simply the middle of two extremes and nothing more. It is not the most likely.

In short, you have been talking codswallop.

The mode is the most frequent score in a data set.

The most probable outcome is entirely related to the specific data set under question.....maybe someone with a math's degree could answer this.

As that is exactly what I have pointed out to you I fear that "in short, you have been talking codswallop".

You are the one losing the plot because you were making the erroneous assumption that UN report uses the median as it's forecast.

It doesn't.

Actually, it was you who suggested that the median figure was the forecast. I told you that the actual figure could be much higher.
Now you are backtracking and doing cartwheels to divert from your own foolish position.

We know what your agenda id Wisbech.

As at no time have I suggested that the median figure was the forecast please explain how you reach the conclusion that I have.

The actual figure could be higher, or lower, than the forecast but the forecast is the best judgement currently available with all the known variables. It isn't though the median between the extremes.

My position remains exactly as it was when I first challenged you to produce evidence for your assertion that the numbers could reach 20 billion.

This is about as likely as the idea that Palace will win the Champions League in 2021. Not totally impossible but extremely unlikely.

We don't plan for the extremely unlikely. We plan for the most likely. In Palace's case mid table security and a cup run. For the world's population around a peak of 12 billion.

Football is not a good analogy for population growth and the rest of your post is meaningless posturing.

The population will be at critical levels whether it reaches 11,15 or 20 billions.

At the forecast of 12 billion it will present many challenges but so long as we prepare properly they can be anticipated and managed, with the use of science, technology, co-operation and commonsense. 20 billion would, I guess, be critical.

It is the biggest reason why global co-operation and not global confrontation is so important. With the need to confront the realities of climate change happening in tandem we cannot afford to play the childish games that Trump and his cohorts are. The priority cannot be to "make America great again", which is code for dominant. The priority has to be to make the world secure again. Those who hate globalisation need to reflect on the upside as well as the downside.

If countries like North Korea can produce nuclear weapons, and the means to deliver them, almost anyone can. Imagine a future in which we have deliberately concentrated all the population growth into already over crowded and hungry places. Wouldn't you feel angry and desperate enough to at least develop, and threaten to use, weapons that you might think give you some leverage? Then it only takes one idiot and there's plenty of them on offer.

Again you focus is on Trump. He says what he says to gain support and votes.
The US maintains stability in the world not threatens it. They try to ensure that dangerous countries don't develop nuclear weapons.

Keeping vast numbers of migrants from high population areas from streaming into Europe is exactly how we will preserve our culture and avoid shortages in water, food and energy. It might well cause conflict with other nations and that is one symptom of very high population levels.
Right now our problems with immigration are just street crime, organised crime, gang wars, rape gangs, housing shortages, suppressed wages, Brexit and terrorism.

Aren't we the lucky ones.
