We should get a statement or vote or something sent to Parish of thousands of us who will cancel our season tickets if they take us further down this road. It might be the only way seeing ad Roy will accept it, even though if you read his comment of ‘its up to the owners and DOF. I’m happy to work with Benteke’ it suggests otherwise.

We’re becoming a joke now.

Think are right Rudi, statement of intent to Parish.
s it is we will be lucky to stay up so is going to buy the season tickets then?

If we are irrelevant, which is how I’m reading this sh1t now, then they won’t miss my season ticket money. I’ll be a mug to pay it when I can watch at home or fall asleep while it’s on or watch the Dallas cheerleader trials instead. That’s if we stay up and are on streams.

Things or challenges will only get harder when Zaha leaves and we want to add to them? Jokers.

Playing devils advocate here but we don't play to Benteke's strengths, which I think is quite clear to all and the only reason I can see that being because of is Wilf - Everything goes through Wilf, where he likes to drive into the box and cut the ball back or commit defenders, which doesn't suit Bentekes one dimensional game at all, which is - 'stand at the back post and hope it lands on my head'.

With the above in mind, are we re-signing Benteke for when Wilf goes and we have to revise how we play? Maybe we'll start playing towards our strikers strengths rather than relying on one man?

It’s a good point. But Roy doesn’t play that way either. Parish hired FDB one year after Benteke to not play the direct football Benteke is suited to.

What do you think Parish will do? Seek out the direct football manager that either doesn’t exist or has been promoted with a large kitty and no interest in us. It’s so muddled it’s fvcking embarrassing how we’re now being run.

And people claim Parish learns from his mistakes? It would be funny if it wasn’t so painful and damaging. He doesn’t plan or learn, only wants acquiescent people around him who will usually be inexperienced.

Fvcking he’ll i was almost looking forward to 20/21 season after this struggle. Not now.

You're right, Roy doesn't play this way and Parish doesn't seem to like the style either.

IF we stay up, will Roy be here after this season when Wilf leaves? If he doesn't and we have to resort back to direct football to gain stability after Wilfs departure, Benteke would be the ideal striker to have but again, you're right, we have used all the stable British managers who play this way.

It's very hard to see SP's vision..

A lot of you spend your days crying on here about the clubs finances and how much we waste on wages but you are willing to let 15-20 million walk out the door for free.

Contradicting yourselves !!

If Benteke does not sign a new deal he leaves for free. If he does sign a new deal on same wages then an asset is protected. It may cost us 5 million or so over a year but then he gets sold for say 15 million which is 10 mill profit.

It is a no brainer.

Which mug are we expecting to part with 15m for a striker with 4 goals in his last 51 apps?

Sheffield United paid 20 or so million for Ollie McBurnie. I rest my case.

McBurnie scored 24 goals last season.
He also looked very good when he came on against us.

nobody in their right mind would pay that a striker who can't score, has no floor skills, can't take penalties and does not know how to work defenders off the ball!

So why would Benteke suddenly have a change of heart and join another club after signing a new contract with us, when he has already turned down offers from other clubs in the last year? If no club goes in for him and we sign him on a new contract, we're lumbered with him.

If your argument is that because he could get a big signing on fee and large wages for going on a free, why would he then sign a contract with us that are not on better terms than he's currently on?

Literally none of renewing his contract makes any sense.

Losing him on a free may mean we don't recoup any kind of fee, but we also then have over £100k a week off the wage bill which could be used to bring in a loan signing like Batshuayi rather than continue with a player that just isn't working.

If he is signing a new contract it is because he wants to stay at Palace as there are always buyers and takers for premier league players. You may not think he is worth anything but believe me in todays market even with his recent goal scoring record he is still worth a lot of money.

He doesnt have to have a change of heart, players get sold all the time even though they really dont want to move. So in a years time if the club decise they want him gone then he will be gone. Players generally do not want to stay at clubs where they are not wanted. (Benteke at Liverpool)

It makes perfect sense to get him tied down to a new deal.

Your saying get 100k off the wage bill but are letting 15-20 million walk out the door. The maths dont add up.
