McBurnie scored 24 goals last season.
He also looked very good when he came on against us.

Lets see how he does in the Premier league

Contradicting yourselves !!

If Benteke does not sign a new deal he leaves for free. If he does sign a new deal on same wages then an asset is protected. It may cost us 5 million or so over a year but then he gets sold for say 15 million which is 10 mill profit.

It is a no brainer.

its a no brainer, nobody will sign a striker on 130k a week for 15m that does not score goals. Tekkers really doesn't care he's a multi millionaire is fing useless at what he does and will get a huge sign on fee again from us and 4 mill a year for walking a round a football pitch and going to the gym.

If we resign him, my St next year wont be renewed and im off to watch Cambridge play until sense prevails in se25

Don’t think he can be criticised for not closing down defenders. The way we play under Roy we don’t press the ball from the front. I expect he’s under instructions not to, also neither did Zaha last week, they were both passengers.
I would be very disappointed if he leaves on a free after all we have invested in him, IF he scores a few goals there will be for sure a team willing to buy him, especially one which plays direct and has wingers that cross the ball.

Cant do any worse than Benteke, only needs to score twice this season to have a better season than Benteke has for the last 2 seasons.
Id have taken McBurnie over Benteke every day of the week.

We will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Those are the words Alan Pardew used when signing him for £30m and to be honest, he was absolutely spot-on.

We also need a reality check on Benteke's potential new contract with CPFC.

No way will he sign for the same terms and I don't blame him.

His agent will tell Parish: "Look, he'll hit a few goals if you start playing to his strengths for the first time in years and you'll have a £40m striker on your hands all day long.

"If we can split the difference and you give my client a £20m signing fee coupled with £120K-plus pw, plus bonuses, plus loyalty fee, plus image rights etc.. I think I can persuade Chis to sign.

"Do that or we walk out the door for nothing."

For those saying that he's not used properly since we don't have wingers used to cross the ball, count how many crosses for his head you see here:

Having just watched that it is hard to believe its the same player, no headers and most goals on the counter attack, cant really understand what's happened to him.

After watching that video it is quite clear to see that Christian Benteke is no longer the man he once was.

Maybe sit Benteke down and get him to watch it, might jog some memories, and inspire him.

How is this for a contract offer.

5k a week
50k goal bonus
10k win bonus
-50% if injuried.

If he is signing a new contract it is because he wants to stay at Palace as there are always buyers and takers for premier league players. You may not think he is worth anything but believe me in todays market even with his recent goal scoring record he is still worth a lot of money.

He doesnt have to have a change of heart, players get sold all the time even though they really dont want to move. So in a years time if the club decise they want him gone then he will be gone. Players generally do not want to stay at clubs where they are not wanted. (Benteke at Liverpool)

It makes perfect sense to get him tied down to a new deal.

Your saying get 100k off the wage bill but are letting 15-20 million walk out the door. The maths dont add up.

So why didn't this work when we tried to sell him in the previous two windows?

Also, which club is going to pay £15-20m for Benteke when he's scored 4 goals in his last 52 appearances for the club?

We wouldn't be letting '£15-20 million' walk out the door, we'd be removing £6m a year from the wage bill which could be used to pay the wages of a player who can score more than 1 in 13.

Batshuayi on similar wages scored more goals in his 11 games for us than Benteke did in 52 games.
