I am enjoying a good start to the season it's been a while since that happened. I loved Lineker banging on about a non existent whistle meanwhile on Talksport the ginger Peterborough fan was foaming at the mouth he never has a good word to say about Palace.

There is only one thing sweeter than a victory, a victory that your enemies think is unfair. At least one of the MOTM pundits had the grace to say it wasn't Palace's fault.

Made me laugh when Linaker suggested it wasn't even the refs whistle , ''It came from somewhere '' What a pilchard .

That Grealish was making a meal of the challenge was enough to deem it simulation and was the correct decision and though I can see that the Villa fans would have a different opinion I don't expect 'neutral' pundits to make up a different set of rules on the summary . Made themselves look a bit daft IMO .

And yes not to focus on a man of the match performance of Ayew was strange given that's what they do for every other game .

And Jenas saying it was the worst decision in the history of football

And Tim Cahill repeated the nonsensical opinion that a ref should 'let play run on' when he thinks that an attacker has committed an offence.

Why?
How long for?

Take off your red and blue specs for a minute and that’s never simulation in a million years. If it was Zaha would be booked every single week.

He was clearly laying off the ball and didn’t appeal, he also had pressure on his back when running at significant speed.

Im not complaining, but we absolutely got lucky with a poor call.

True to form I got it wrong and expected A.Villa to win.I have asserted before on HOL that correctly predicting our results is certainly not my forte !

Fully deserved to win and we were the better side even before they went down to 10 men.I expected more from A.Villa.

Though I am very happy with the 3 points, the disallowed goal did show our lack of concentration in the dying minutes of many games and RH has to address that. Yesterday Villa nearly did what we did to ManU last week.

Kevin Friend committed a howler thankfully.
Grealish did well to stay on his feet so it was a good goal denied.
Cahill needs to watch out - he doesn't have the same protection playing for a smaller team now so he will cost us doing things like that eventually

I do find (along with many others) that the editing on MotD is poor.

To me highlights should give a fair and accurate a summary of a game. Watching last night it seemed like a totally different match to the one I attended failing to to reflect the the overall pattern of the game and our general dominance, particularly in the 2nd half.

Oh well, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

I watched it carefully and think grealish began his leap before the contact. I suspect his anger had as much to do with him screwing up what should have been a goal or stone penalty.

By the way no mention that a goal would have been 100% unjust smash and grab given how much better we were.

And jenas is a tool. I will elaborate if I have to.

We can count ourselves very lucky yesterday, that looked like a perfectly good goal chalked off for Villa. Not sure why Grealish got booked either, he was fouled. We have got to take this good fortune because you can bet there will be one that goes against us waiting around the corner.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Think it was a dive !!' by bexleydave

I have watched and watched the Grealish incident..

At first wasn’t sure but now I think ...it was a dive

Yes slight nudge from Wilf ( could be a free kick edge of box) , which speeds up Grealish momentum....
Cahill just gets his leg out the way, and no contact ...Grealish throws
himself to the deck looking for a last minute penalty
If the ball hadn’t gone in then VAR would be used ... and think refs
decision would have been upheld

I must admit it’s close but I think the ref called it right

I was expecting to see how the ref had made a howler on MOTD and Villa denied etc.etc.

So it was a surprise to see that Grealish did, in fact, dive, and the referee promptly blew for it.

That was where the game stopped, on the referee's whistle, not on what happened after.

Friend is a highly competent referee, and acted correctly.
