I wonder how many of you, and the people as a whole, watched the key points of the debate and vote tonight and if so what you made of it?

I watched a fair bit and although mostly predictable in the various arguments being put the surrounding mood music didn't go well for Johnson, in my view anyway.

He came over as arrogant and blustering, and not the least bit Prime Ministerial. As for Rees Mogg, he shot himself in the foot by lounging on the front bench, a picture that is bound to haunt him.

These things ought not to matter but as many people form opinions based on little else then they do.

The speed of Johnson’s response showed that this wasn’t what they wanted but they did expect it. Corbyn has fallen straight into the trap Blair warned him about. Labour can’t really afford an election, plus he doesn’t have any good options available to him.

A quick check of the odds, the Tories are evens for a majority.

Why do you think Johnson will succeed in calling an election?

was never an option....the vote was remain or leave!

As an aside, what happens if there was a 2nd referendum and the result was a win for leave? Then where do we go? Best of 5?

PS Id prefer to remain as I live in France but the democratic vote was leave!!

The vote was predicated on a very very clear statement that it would happen with a deal

I am not a Boris fan, but allow me to retort.

He would indeed be weak. But then again, weak is as weak does.

Haha he just lost, and someone said "not a good start, Boris"!!

LMAO.

He’s started it now.

Happening now.

What has the EU done in the past three years to make the British electorate more upset with it?

And by the way the Heath quote is out of context and misunderstood in your linked article. See the article I linked. Relative sovereign power increases even though an element is ceded. There was a huge amount of discussion at the time.

I think Tusk has said some rather rude things if memory serves me correct.....Guy Verhofstadt as well.....Also in the last three years we have had the EU army stuff and anti US rhetoric from Macron and Merkel....no doubt lovely sounding to your ears but most definitely not to mine.

Out of Context!!!

I give you a direct quote said directly to the nation, which is a self contained statement that directly contradicts what you said and you come out with 'out of context'!

Sure there was a lot of discussion....Labour talking the truth and Heath waffling and avoiding the blunt truth for most of it....I heard your contention and showed you where this is false.

The nation was most definitely lied to by the man at the top....He said those direct words in a televised address to the nation.

Here's another link for people on sovereignty.
