You really think this is good news? This seems pretty damning to me:-

I can't keep up with these twists and turns every time I turn on the TV. My popcorn supply is rapidly depleting.

Oooh. Ouch, Stirley. Not your best work here.

Weak, weak come back for you, Stirley. You dont have a leg to stand on here and you know it. In that regard you are in much the same bind as the PM.

He cannot pass any legislation in the house, he has a negative majority.

He cannot break the law, as the supreme court tends to side with "the law" in court cases. Therefore his "I would rather be dead in a ditch than ask for an extension" might well become "I would rather resign".

He is legally mandated to ask for an extension now, and there will now NEVER be a no deal exit. It was always a Farage mirage....a unicorn pipe dream. It died yesterday when the lords passed the Benn bill.

He is clearly not trying to get a deal, as he doesnt even have a negotiation team. All ministers who joined his government, believing he wanted a deal are now quitting.

He is losing cabinet ministers left and right, over his lack of actual desire to get a deal, and his removing of the whip of over 20 career politicians, some of which gave several decades of their lives to support the conservative party, has basically alienated half the entire party, maybe more.

He has ZERO plays left in his play book.

What can he do now?

Nothing.

He can only sit and wait to be legally forced to seek an extension, and wait for Corbyn to decide when the election should be.

He is f***ed.

He isn't.

He can't be forced to make a deal....Let them try to send him to jail and see what that does.....Or he can step down.....We will see what Cummings does.

What we are seeing is a battle within the Tory party. If the remainers win the party is destroyed and the Brexit party will rise but Corbyn will become Prime Minister.

All the leavers need is for Johnson to get an election.

Keep sucking on the dummy.

Hrolf did proposition me but as I keep telling him I dont favor noshing on a beef injection.

Joking aside, You are correct that he cannot be forced to make a deal, but does it trouble you that he is a complete f***ing liar, and used the excuse of wanting negotiating power for getting a deal, as to why no deal should not be ruled out?

Then Cummings shoots the boss in the foot when he admits its all a sham.

Go to jail or be forced to resign.

Some set of options for the master tactician! f***ing hell.

If the ERG win the party is destroyed aswell Stirly. Honestly if those 20 odd tories dont get the whip back the writing is already on the wall.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

From a strategic point of view, with May being a three year long dancing dud, I can see where the 'my way or the high way' approach of Boris comes in. How else could he have played it? Granted there has been a reaction, especially from within his own party, and so the solution lies at the ballet box sometime soon I would think.

A negative from the government is that they're making themselves look like a mess right now. A positive, that Jeremy Corbyn is unpopular to an almost unbelievable level. It may well still end up being a toss up though. Unpredictable times.

Yep, I agree, the Tory party has to be either remain or leave and I suppose we are witnessing that 'end times' battle for its soul right here and now.

Whoever wins has to remake the party in its image.

As most of the Troy party grass roots are much nearer to ERG than remain....I'm not seeing that personally.

If the Tory party remakes itself as a reluctant 'no deal' party it has a good chance.

What makes you think that exactly?

I'm finding the whole thing rather entertaining dear boy.....Even if it all goes completely against what I want I won't be that upset.

I came to a rather fatalistic conclusion about things a while back.....It's all a bit like the end of the 'Last Samurai'.

I hope I'm wrong of course but regardless of which way the chips fall on this matter....I'm not going to get that animated over what I can't control.

I just like the debate....with the occasional joke.

If I remember correctly it was their polling on the EU.

The grass roots are a large majority Euroskeptic....as you would expect....Just as the Labour grass roots are large majority pro EU.

It's down to us to decide if their qualifications, experience, morality, past record and willingness to work hard meet our standards. If not, choose someone else.

Its been proven that in many areas literally anyone will be elected according to the party they represent regardless of their ability or aptitude. There are several people in the H o C who frankly I wouldn’t trust to run a bath let alone make decisions of national importance.
