I assume this is your idea of a joke.

If not, try looking at any article on farming.

You saying ‘That if we could find a way of reducing population growth it would also help is also true‘ implies deep down you don’t think it’s possible. Controlling the worldwide population? Good luck.

It's another subject really but obviously not unconnected. I agree it seems very unlikely to be achieved so was expressing hope much more than any real expectation. What I don't want to see are future populations reduced by famine, disease or war as a consequences of inaction now by us.

If ever there was an argument to support the need for a coordinated global approach to issues this is it. People like Trump and Bolsonaro need to be made international pariahs by the world community, whilst we continue to deal with their country's institutions.

I am slightly in awe of the genius behind using this kid to front the Green Movement.

And yes, creepy as f*** the way this girl being put up on a pedestal and held aloft like some kind of herald. All very 'Wicker Man' or 'Children of the Corn' (the first one was mine, the second I stole) with grown adults adoringly worshipping at the shrine of Nordic purity. Leni Riefenstahl could not have stage managed this show better.

Personally I adored the scowl yesterday aimed at Trump. Absolutely wonderful. And the perfect posing of the 'when did you stop beating your wife' question for our times in terms of anybody having the audacity to question why this kid has such pre-eminence now.

I mean who can slate a blond haired blue eyed kid, with an emotional expression disability, for wanting to save the Whales? Or the Polar Bears? Or whatever cute creature is the meme of the month for the usual suspects?

Chaps, I think we have to concede this one. An absolute gem of a stroke. Only thing they have let themselves down on is that she is white. Could possibly, at some stage, come back to haunt them. But we will see. Other than that, sheer perfection.

You think population reduction and control isn’t likely so it’ll have to be a reversal of technology, or use of it. Hopeful again.

There’s not the need for African families to have many children like before. There’s also the problem of women becoming pregnant in Africa very young.

Just ha a thought. Who was saying that technology and improvements to our lives including convenience, robots etc would cause climate change?

Spot on.

Hopefully she'll be fine when she's outlived her usefulness.

To achieve the desired aims it looks like we’ll have to go back to a bygone era that remainers chuck at leave voters.

You don’t have to look very far to find young people not much older than Greta that don’t give a fvck, or if they do, it’s just words.

I don’t know where abouts you’re based, but consistently I find your generalisations of young people to be miles from reality.

This is far and away the most ‘climate-friendly’ generation there has ever been - I’m not sure why you’re determined to make out they are hypocrites (of course some exist), but from what I see and experience they live by what they preach.

LOL.

Yes, lots are now refusing lifts to school. Or flying away on numerous holidays. Or refusing to buy goods that have been imported rather than grown or produced locally. I am in awe of them.

I’ve seen lots just put, leave or chuck their s*** in normal rubbish, whether that be in street bins or in the gym.

You’re probably right that this generation are more conscious, but trust me, there are plenty who aren’t. Back in the days when people were destroying the planet people were reusing and recycling everything. Okay they had to, but it happened. Well they didn’t have to return the large coke bottle for 10p but they did it.

I’m not trying to make out the ones preaching are hypocrites but there’s a lot of ignorant ones causing plastic or glass waste while I am recycling everything I buy that’s packaged.

Anyone can make vague generalisations - it’s not proof of anything.

I’m open to be convinced, but telling me ‘lots are now refusing lifts to school’ is just hot air, pun intended.

I don't recall seeing too many young school kids wearing yellow jackets in the French uprising at the moment. I do wonder what the reaction would be if a child with emotional issues was being used to front that particular movement?

Sure, but you’re talking about a generation of people - you’re always going to have some within it who don’t care.

I don’t have the numbers, but I’d be very confident that recycling per person or household is up massively since ‘back in the days’ - but your perception is that a generation who recycled less “recycled and reused everything”, whereas those who recycle more don’t - that’s kind of what I’m getting at.
