On MoTD last night analysis seemed to suggest Mane dived for Pools winning penalty. No VAR decision which also suggests big clubs at home still will get away with the close calls.

It was blatant cheating in my opinion. A little bit of contact - two players coming together (if you'll pardon the potential innuendo) with no adverse outcome, then Mane throws himself to the floor like a small bird that's been shot by a French villager.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Yes, with a foot to fall over that's exactly what he did and on the radio it sounded like Albrighton had totally cocked it up but he clearly didn't.

No penalty, football cannot be free of contact.

The player clearly dived and should have been red-carded.

Just when I was getting happier with VAR.

The ref gave it under Anfield home team pressure, thought VAR would have seen the end of that.

Plenty of work to do.

Liverpool deserves top spot, but shame they have divers like Mane (blatant against Leicester) and Salah in their team.

Albrighton slumped down with his head in his hands, he never appealed against the penalty decision so perhaps this speaks volumes.

It was a foul followed by a dive but more of a dive. As there wasn’t enough contact in the fouls to make him fall. Mane was no different to any other attacking player in the league going down easily. Including Wilf. They all do it.

You brought Zaha into the debate.
I happen to believe that if Zaha was Mane,in terms of that incident, and a penalty had not been awarded there would be a degree of furore amongst our supporters.

Different opinions on HOL but this all adds to the rich tapestry of discussion on this cherished site.

Definitely, It is one of those incidents that will always divide people. It is one of those incidents that you won’t complain if it goes for you.

VAR is obviously an important step forward, after all the major reffing mistakes that were not corrected. I feel that it's in the same state as the first season of umpiring reviews in cricket, where there were some clear problems which were sorted during the close season. There are always marginal calls and decisions in most sports and it's the very tight ones which take the time, as with our winner yesterday. I think it's the most significant VAR call in any of our matches so far, and am just relieved it came out right for us.

Does anybody know or keeping track our VAR decisions either for or against?

Fair point, but I rather suspect Albrightons foot didn't move as much as Manes ..also because of how he had played immediately before the incident he would have had his head in his hands for that alone lol.
