Another possibility is that roy could get himself the sack.

We have been pretty good so far- very good points yield , however any points in the next 5 or six games will be regarded as bonus points.

If we revert to type and fvck up in the preceding set of fixtures where we would be hoping to pick up points (or our lack of squad depth , notably strikers and fullbacks), then we are back in the grinder.

Roy is doing a marvelous job with the resources at his disposal, but such is football anything can happen.

There is no possibility of Roy getting himself sacked, the bloke is getting our squad to over perform. I expect to see his contract extended by another year.
This could all change, if we are sold, but that also seems unlikely.
The suggestion of ex Aussie players as the next managers is comical, it will never happen.

There’s no possibility at present but it’s a results business and things can change. We SHOULD be safe a bit earlier this season but even that you can’t be sure of. The one thing Roy has is the team obeying instructions. We may not like them but they are obeyed by players, unlike other managers you can see the sack coming.

Popovic and Jedinak. Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!! PML!!!!

I take you point about succession, but Popovic? He could win the A-League by a million points, and he still wouldn’t get a sniff. Glenn Hoddle’s pacemaker has got more chance of getting a PL managers seat.

I’d prefer us to look at Howe than Dyche who was suggested as a replacement, but before all that, long live Sir Roy and his trusty squire Ray, they have been excellent. This calendar year could be Palace’s best ever, so forget about change now, park those thoughts. We have the best person for the job right now, I don’t think there is a better fit for our club, look at the problems at other clubs chopping and changing. Watford, Everton, Manure no stability. We don’t need to rush, as long as Roy is enjoying himself and is finding a way to successfully manage the side then let him do so for as long as possible.

That's an entirely fair comment, but if we went all out for Dyche, we would get him.

He needs a move. His choices to get one are few because of his playing style.

We would accept his playing style for results & financial security.

Absolutely agree Roy is virtually bombproof at the moment.
Getting some good results from a squad that he hasn't built but only added to, keeping us up in the Premier division again despite our impotent and injured strikers.
Not many other managers would rush to apply for SE25 unless there is a takeover and a new change of direction.

If there’s a general consensus that we need a successor for Roy, and a younger man at that, then we already have one.

Ray Lew is only 63

But Ray hadn't worked with Roy for what seems like 20 years when he was with us as assistant coach to S,C,

I was joking.

He wouldn't take the job even if offered.

Roy Hodgson's Premier League record is far superior to Dyche. Dyche averages 1.1 points per game. Hodgson, with Palace, averages more than 1.3. Howe, who has also been mentioned on this thread, averages less than 1.2 points. We're very lucky to have Roy. Hopefully we'll see 3 points at the weekend, quickly followed by a year's contract extension for Roy.

Roy won’t be going anywhere. Doesn’t look like a man in his last season to me. He will sign a new contract soon and I hope he does.

My thoughts exactly !
