Good effort Sir! I have never achieved that in all the years. Went close a few times in the dark years of 82 - 85 (when there really weren't that many of us going up North)and then went and got married! That was the end of that (well away games anyway).

That was my best era as well for games attended, I missed two games home and away two seasons on the trot, 81/82 and 82/83, the closest I ever got to a full house.

As you said, not many of us travelling up north back then as the club and team was unraveling, but still good times though despite some of the bleak places we went too and losing most of the time

Remember it like yesterday. Great times under big Mal and Venners. You recall how good Kenny Samsom was.
Best English left back by a mile

Loved it.

Such a shame that Bloye was such a bellend.

He oversaw the making of a club with huge potential and then cashed out just when we had it all.

It was fun at the perfect time in my life but the '80s were a largely dismal time at Palace.

Glad I discovered girls by then.

What a great film. Clearly the team had great potential because of their young age but for me at the time in my eyes the only reason we were in the limelight was because of Allison and Venibles. As was eluded to during the film it was the press that labled the team not the club. Even though we were doing well as a fan since the late 1950’s I still felt that were out of our depth. However it was a great period and great to have experienced it. Today however I do think we belong in the top flight.COYP

I always remember the Brighton Boxing Day game where we lost 3-0 which they didn’t mention in the film, not long after the 3-0 defeat up at Anfield as when it really felt like it was starting to go pete tong, because there was no shame in getting stuffed at anfield, but losing like that to Brighton really hurt.

While the doc is very fine, I was horrified to view some of the showing of John 'Johnty' Jackson. Several of the efforts that beat him would unquestionably have been comfortably dealt-with by WH. And yet he regularly claims the No.1 jersey in many people's All Time XI.

I was never lucky enough to witness his quality live however the evidence makes it perfectly clear to everyone that his reputation is undeserved and it's about time his place in those teams was given to Big Nige (oh come on, Vic Rouse isn't a real thing - he's just a legend akin to Nessie or Bigfoot - everyone knows that), at least until such time as The Giant Cornishman's form dips.

Certainly my All Time XI looks much more calm and confident with the giant Cornishman marshalling matters at the back and my team looks far more assured as a result. JJ is second-tier All Time XI at best and we will never make The Next Step all the time we show such a lack of fantasy ambition.

You do know they only showed you he goals he conceded right?

You could could show any keeper in that light if you carefully select what you show.

Another JJ-apologist. Open yer eyes mate. It's no wonder we never get anywhere in the All Time All Times. If Sir Steve doesn't start imagining Nige in goal instead then we'll never win an imaginary anything.

This is one wind up which won’t work with anyone that saw Jacko. Yes he was susceptible to the odd error but in his dsy he was brilliant. And more to the point he was one of our own.

Not apologising for anyone. I never saw Jackson play as he was just before my time however my Grandad used to tell me he was brilliant.

Less of the lip mate and stop acting such a pr@ck.

Nah, not intended as a wind-up, though I am only dicking about. It just struck me as amusing that Jacko is held in such incredibly high regard - I'm quite sure deservedly so - and yet the first time I've seen anything at all of him (or at least realised it) he's being regularly beaten by efforts he should've done a lot better with. And it occured that WH, for a terrific current example, often gets a dog's abuse on here from some for nothing even approaching such performance. (I appreciate it's selective and blah blah blah, I really do, I was just staggered that John Jackson - that's THE John Jackson - wasn't 12 feet tall and dismissively swatting away ferocious efforts with an only vaguely interested gigantic member.)

(Anyhow, this shouldn't derail this thread from the appreciation of a very good piece of work.)
