Union Berlin aren't as preachy and seem a genuine inclusive club not just if you are of a certain political persuasion.

self righteous left wing benders :-)

I can't speak highly enough of the 'onion' (what Union sounds like in English)

this bloke -- didn't speak a word of English -- gave my boy his scarf, which had been signed by all the players. my missus put it straight in the wash when we got back...I managed to retrieve it.

really warm people and amazing singing

Wimbledon. Used to watch them at Plough Lane if Palace weren't playing. Had a decent bar that was very cheap.

Fulham. Have mates that are fans so occasionally go and watch. Hard to dislike them.

Rangers. Met some real t***tish Celtic fans on holiday years and years ago and since them have always wanted Rangers to do better (which they used to). I realise that there will be an equal number of t***tish Rangers fans out there but they are not the ones I bumped into.

St Mirren. Shared an office with a season ticket holder and it rubbed off. Never seen them play but do keep an eye on the bottom of the SPL.

I used to like Barca as they weren't Real Madrid and played in red and blue but it's hard to like either team now. I do keep an eye on Bilbao results as I have a mate who is a season ticket holder.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

UD Lanzarote, group 12 of the third division, its regional they are sadly no very good, no investment, Palace offered them Benteke and to pay the wages, they said no

I have a soft spot for QPR just because I got their autographs in the early 70s and they were such nice blokes. Dave Clement especially was very kind, it was sad the way he ended up. Good player too.
Apart from them I keep an eye out for Go Ahead Eagles just on the name.

Wimbledon - simply because I used to attend when they used to share our ground. Tickets I think were the cheapest in the Premier League and it was really easy to get tickets
St. Pauli - Just a really well supported club and really likable too
Napoli - When Serie A matches were shown on Channel 4 I started to like them. Great fans and they have had bankruptcy issues as well as lots of ups and down similar to us. So I can relate to them

For me, in this order:

Bury
Union Berlin
Bromley
Dulwich Hamlet

Bury cos as a child I could never pronounce it, and as such read up on some of its history.

Berlin...amazing club, amazing fans? amazing recent history

Bromley...my most local team

Hamlet...fairly local, nice history

who do you have a soft spot for and why?

A touch of bandwagon jumping there, GPW?

Mine:

Plymouth Argyle - my late mum's home city which I visited many times to stay with my grandma, plus I went to my first ever football match there; a local derby against Torquay United!

Local teams where I grew up:

Welling United
Dartford (before they were dragged into insolvency by Maidstone - the current Dartford isn't really the same club)
Erith & Belvedere

Happy childhood memories of getting various buses to watch 'The Darts' and 'The Deres'. Started going to Welling with 'the lads' (one fellow-Palace, the rest Charlton) when I came of drinking age. Interestingly, I understand that Erith & Belvedere now play at Welling's ground.

As a footnote, when I lived in Berkhamsted from 1998 to 2002, I would go and watch Berkhamsted Town. In fact I followed the all the way to the FA Vase final, but unfortunately that was during the Wembley rebuilding, so it took place at Villa Park. They lost too, despite a spirited performance against superior opposition. I now learn that 'Berko' have ceased to exist. Just call me 'Jonah'!

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

I used to have this boy's handbook...white cover, loads of facts. name is gone.

in it, I learned bury had won a few fa cups...including what was a record win...v derby 6-0 at the crystal palace. I love that, along with all those old fashioned names like the wanderers, the royal engineers & Blackburn Olympic.

bury stuck because, for the life of me, I could never remember if it was pronounced like 'Terry' or like 'curry'. ironically, we would say it like Terry but I'm sure locals would say like curry.

funny story about the handbook...my brother in law found 20 years later and cracked up at the scrawled words inside the front cover...

'eagles eat seagulls'

I'm sad not to be able to look up bury's results these days.

When I discovered Subbuteo in the late 60s, I begged my parents to let me buy my own team. Based on the limited stock at the local shop, I chose QPR. Therefore I too had a soft spot for a good few years. That was kicked into touch at the FA Cup quarter-final (1984, without looking it up?) via Bob Hazell's thuggery, unpunished by a home-biased referee, by the dreadfully unfair plastic pitch and by Clive Allen's over-exuberent celebration on scoring the lucky winner. It was one of my top 5 (or bottom 5) sick as a parrot days as a Palace fan.
