This is England. It is, always has, and hopefully, always be take away.

It's a regional thing. I had never heard it referred to anything other than take away until I moved to Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1984 where it was referred to as carry out

For some reason I never used them once they moved to Kingsway.

My favourite take out now is Jasmin, Indian place in Shoreham. 5 minutes walk and excellent food.

I was correct then.
English is take away.
Perhaps its because geordies can never say away/haway without adding "the lads".

curry for me usually chicken Naga or lamb madras/vindaloo/phall depending on mood, all with chapatis or naan breads. chips on the side to soak up the gravy! from shafiques on the goring shops. I do like a dirty doner but Ive found a very good way to replicate it myself. I've always said take away but wife says carry out(northern) its not a take out sterling, naughty step for you. Kids,tired of being bothered by your pesky parents? Then leave home, get a job & pay your own bills, while you still know everything.

I avail of Shafiques in Angmering and always order a chicken vindaloo extra hot! It puts muscles on one's breath.

How times have changed. When I moved up to Newcastle in 1984 I was asked if I wanted chips with my curry and I burst out laughing saying that "no-one has chips with curry" but I see that this revolting Northern idea has crept down South now

Difficult to obtain during winter, but in the summer Asda, morrisons etc always do cheap s***e bbq ready made stuff.
