its not that common midlands, its me.
my nan used to do me proper home made cut chips for breakfast as a kid, about 8yrs or so, if not piles of smash on fried bread for breakfast.
Unfortunatly ive always had chips with everything and anything.
a couple of places have refused to oblige(fair play)although I find if you request 'saute' they do em
in restuarants.
a bit prol I agree but its my nans fault.

their naga chicken is very good Willo.
worth a try!
Also they will supply a tray of the standard sauces(I often have an extra vindaloo or madras gravy & freeze it to use later, usually on chips or a meat pie)

Working at the G-Mex Centre in Manchester my refusal to have gravy on my chips was greeted with astonishment. They’re probably still talking about it 25 years later.

Yes. That's another revolting Northern culinary horror

Difficult to obtain during winter, but in the summer Asda, morrisons etc always do cheap s***e bbq ready made stuff.
most suitable are the beef or lanb kebabs(meat is crap processed-like dirty doner.
wrap em in foil with spicy sauce of choice-plain old chilli, piri etc.
cook slow in oven over hour or so.
stays very juicy.
cut into slithers & buzz in pitta with the usual onions etc .
helmans do a kebab shop style taziki.
nearest thing to it & just as good as the average kebab shops.
give it a go Rudi!

WOW KD . . .

I don't normally do the 'turkish' thing, but am gonna give this a go. You should be on Saturday Kitchen lol

Anyhoo, Pukka/Peters pie, chips & a saveloy or a 'dirty' burger n chips. Don't really do carry outs anymore, sad really.

Recently, I have noticed that there has been a trend of Chinese and Indians which were formerly very good, going seriously down hill either because of new management or some other factor.
There is currently not a single one in my area that I would call good.
Lately, I have been going for kebab and fish and chip shop chips with an occasional Pizza Hut Pizza or a very occasional 5 Guys.
If I get the chance I will grab some Favorite Chicken and Ribs if there is one nearby but that is only a once or twice a year job.
I usually have one take away a week.

I prefer this cheap meat version but if you want an upgrade substitute the cheapo for a leg of lamb.
fry off the leg for few mins to seal it then put on layered onions in try.
get about 10 tooth picks & scewer lemon quarters on them into the lamb on top.
same again, juice up the meat with spice & wrap well in foil.
cook @ 140 degree for 5 hrs.
carve up & posh kebab !

Chicken shish with chilli sauce, extra cabbage and onion does it for me.

Uber are delivering our McDonald’s in a minute, so as I’m starving, at the moment I’ll say that.
