Listening to sounds of the 70S this week Jonnie Walker said that there was a Rumour that Marc Bolan had played guitar on Nutbush city Limits by Tina Turner, I also heard another that Rod Stewart had played Harmonica on my boy lollipop by Milly.Have any of you heard of any other things along the same lines

Denied by Rod Stewart and confirmed by Pete Hogman that it was himself

Jagger sang backing on Your so Vain but I guess most people know that.

Some of the guitar greats like Jimmy Page played guitars on hundreds of pop records however as these were studio sessions and so many most can't remember which ones.

My Dad has an album from the late sixties/early seventies called "Jerry Lee Lewis & friends."
Those friends, singig rock and country standards with JLL were, if my memory serves me well, Elvis, Johnny Cash and maybe chuck Berry.
They couldn't be credited for contractual reasons.
Might have to root around in the loft to see if i can find it.

Marc Bolan played on Ma Ma Ma Belle by ELO.

I always suspected that Jimmy Page played on 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' by The Stones, only because it sounds a lot like him.
It is, of course, a common practice to use session musicians for the difficult bits or because band members are unreliable.

Ah, the Mars Bar.
