I think this is slowly starting to happen, in the this election all mainstream parties ate making pledges. So your correct it is up to other to wrest the subject from being the exclusive domain of the left and denying it doesn't exist probably won't get the job done. Agreed. I think the stark politicisation of an issue that will impact us regardless of our personal beliefs is one of the more unfortunate aspects of modern politics and thinking. I suspect that polluting corporations are more than happy to have the current ragtag bunch heralding climate action. They possibly even financially support it through one mechanism or another, because it's much more effective to make these individuals rather than the actual issues, the main talking point.

In the meantime if you ask the population of the relevant countries as a whole I bet most would on balance take poor work conditions for their miners over floods and drought that destroy their crops and cause their children to starve. Climate change is all but universally acknowledged as the biggest danger facing our world. A damn site more important than the health service Brexit immigration et al and obviously so. So why is anti green politics still the mantra of the conservative right? WHY? Good post

When society, or even individual visionaries, put their mind to moving technology forward it happens in the blink of an eye. If we manage to avoid wiping ourselves out, our current utilisation of energy will look like something out of the stone age.

So are the Christian left just as thick? You're wrong to suggest it's 'innate'.....I don't agree with them but many intelligent people believe in many different forms of nonsense. A person's beliefs are more emotionally tied in than a product of reason. For intelligence to be 'innately low' is has to be set low genetically. For concerns as to 'evidence' on climate science and why we shouldn't just blindly listen to 'consensus' skip to 21:10 of Bret Weinstein's recent podcast. This isn't an argument for saying that climate change isn't real and that action isn't required but it definitely is true that binary and certain positions are misguided. Media headlines and scare stories are just that.
